Considering that it's a twin-turbo, 300hp/torque car or so, no, I don't think they're out of their mind. It's not that far off the E46 M3, and it's almost $10k less MSRP. I think there will be plenty of buyers in that space.

Those looking for the 3-series aren't considering a 5-series. The 530i is ungodly slow compared to the 335i. To even draw up the comparison suggests you're missing the point entirely. None of the cars you've mentioned come close in terms of performance.

There are plenty of cars you can get that have 300hp or more with almost the same ride for $30k or so.

Examples?

Mustang GT
WRX
EVO
Charger

Those come to mind in the 300HP arena.

Why even bother buying a 30k car with 300hp when you can just get a 300hp engine and stick it on a box with bicycle wheels? I mean, after all, that seems to be the type of comparison people are making when they say "you can just get another car with that kind of horse power for x dollars less." Unfortunately for them, HP isn't the only thing that makes a car great.

Not even close as a comparison.

Agreed

Audi S4.

Didn't know BMW made an Audi S4.

Joint development. Just like Ferrari worked with Chevy to make the SRT-4.

a Sl65 AMG .. would bitch slap an Audi S4.

I believe a C-Class AMG would slap an Audi S4.
No. It won't. RS4 = Ownage of the C.

well yeah, the 335 is a better car than the merc.... and it'll be a faster machine than the 530 wich is more a managerial waft-mobile

the 335 engine really is a master piece... Bi-turbo'd 3.0litre 6..... mmmmmm 306HP. of course the new M3 will be even better, it'll have a V8 though and im not sure i like that, it jus wont sound like a M3 (CSL versions straight 6 is phenominal!)

have you heard the V8 on the S4 and RS4? trust me, moving to the V8 is a good thing 😉

I dunno.. I've heard the M3 CSL before, and it was probably best sound I've ever heard this side of exotics. I've yet to see or hear the RS4's though so i guess I'll reserve judgement. Most V8's ive heard are just too deep and rumbly for my tastes. Im just the kind that loves the growl and whine from a high reving engine.

RS4 is a high-rev V8... 8250 rpm redline...for your listening pleasure😉

That's cheap for a French car.

It is 2HP short so STFU n00b 😛 j/k

I'm sure most people wouldn't be able to tell a 20BHP difference in a car with 280+ anyway. Also it is less at the wheels.

i know the 0-60 is ~4.8

audis are typically on the piggish side (RS4 is 3800lbs, i believe)

however, Jeremy Clarkson of TG said it was better than the M3 and he's an M3 whore:laugh:
we'll definitely have to see how the new M3 compares, I'm sure it will give the RS4 a run for its money

I wouldn't call Nissan French.. because I believe Renault owns 40? 50? percent of Nissan while Nissan owns 20? 30? percent of Renault.

Someone correct me.

AirBus is 15% French, but try telling anyone on here that....

the 335 MSRP at $40600. the E350 MSRP is $51325. i fail to see what crack OP is on.

and the cheapest 5-series, the 525-, is $43500. although i'd gladly take an M3 for $48900 or the M-coupe for $49300.

The 3-series is the ultimate poser car.

...and the ultimate standard in performance midsize sedans for the last couple decades...

I dont know who in the hell you think you are, but we'll have none of these damned facts screwing up our BMW bashing.

AWAY WITH YOU!

Mercedes can shove its plastic fenders up their ass. BMW > Mercedes.

I would have to say Mercedes > BMW

but that's me.

It's like saying Toyota > Honda

Not really much of a difference, but I think Mercedes has more appeal and their AMG line-up is amazing.

Your crazy. The AMG lineup is a bit underpowered, a bit too porky and not as stylish.
BMW all the way.

SL65 AMG 😀🙂

What does BMW have to go up against that?

They don't and SL65 AMG isn't aiming at BMW.

The closest thing that BMW has its the M6. - Good enough if you ask me. I would never pay over $150k for a Merc

it's by far not how many 'HP' and at that, BMW underreports their numbers.... it's the feel of torque and the balanced feel of the car's driving dynamics, somewhat thanks to the 50/50 weight distribution it has always kept.

1. mercedes
2. bmw
3. audi

as far as legacy, panache and prestige lexus and infinity are not even in the same league

find me a similarly equipped coupe with all those perks to boot for less and i'll eat my hat

if you're concerened about the bottom figure do a european delivery and save another $2000

the more i read your posts the more your credibility goes down

idiots. they're not debating whether its an "awesome machine" (that would be good for another thread). this is a debate over value. 47k for that machine?

Too many people drive beemers. I used to want one until I realized how everyone and their grandmother has a BMW. BMW should price higher to shake off the n00blet "mee too"s

Scion tC looks cooler anyhow.
