LOL Exactly what I was thinking. This is not a procedure that would appear to benefit from a lifetime cap. "Hey, this new penis is working out so well I'm thinking about adding a couple more!"

New valid government function - funding your addadychtomy.

DUH!!!! Improvements in the quality of the employee's quality of life through experimental therapy to implant elephant trunk musclature into the penis! Length!! Girth!!! DEXTERITY!!!

Because you can not experience life to the fullest until you posess a prehensile dick!

Best hike up the re taxes, some public servants need cosmetic surgery as well.

If my teeth are f'd, I will feel very self conscious and getting that orthodontia will really fix my emotional state. Especially if someone else is paying, that will really make me smile.

Are sex changes really ever a medical necessity? It seems just as likely that someone is suffering from a treatable mental problem (with drugs or therapy) than they are truly "trapped within the body of another gender."

Shhh! The use of the phrase mental problem is not allowed when describing sexual issues. It's discriminatory and politically incorrect. :whiste:

This should be something the person has to pay for themselves. Why should the taxpayers support this? I could see some mental health treatments to help them with their real problem...

This!
Exactly what I was thinking ... you beat me to it.

It is a one time surgury that solves a lot of people problems with how they are born. This country is so backwards still with it's puritanical headtrip. Sad.

As an Atheist, I'm certainly not coming from a "puritanical" viewpoint when I say that this seems ridiculous. Try again.

You can get a sex change in the UK on the NHS... I don't see that much of a problem with it.

It's basically cosmetic surgery. Just because you don't like the sex organs you were born with doesn't make it a "medical" or "health" issue other than the fact you are probably batshit crazy for wanting to rip your junk off or having junk added.

That's the point, it's because of a mental health condition, if you could cure schizophrenia by removing legs and replacing them with arms, then I say go for it, no matter how retarded it sounds

I guess this is why they wrote me parking tickets while I was sitting in my car, drove off and mailed me the notice late enough so I passed the contesting period. So whatever parking bitch/asshole could pay for his sex change operation.

No sorry that's just too retarded... Are you in favor of lobotomizing people too? It works after you take the whole brain out. Maybe some therapy would do them better btw.

No because having a lobotomy doesn't fix the problem it removes your capacity to comprehend it. I'm of the opinion that mental heath conditions are often worse than physical conditions, a cure is a cure, it's worth a try.

But what about all the small breasted women with mental conditions that could easily be solved with bigger breasts??? Would someone please think about the titties?

I do think some people who believe they are the wrong gender have something similar to Body Dysmorphic Syndrome, but I believe the vast majority of the cases are other issues. There are proven cases where people with severe Body Dysmpophic Syndrome where after removing the part or changing the part they thought wasn't right, had different brain scans than before. Sometimes psychology can't solve every issue with the brain.

That said, still there in no way shape or form should state taxes go for this.

To me that's like saying viagra/levitra/cialis is a medical necessiity. If they are then sex change operations are. If not, then they aren't.
