EQ was amazing. When I started playing (after Velious but before Luclin) the world was massive, and the only maps available were online. There was so much ground to cover and you actually felt like you were exploring and seeing things that had never been seen before. With WoW and built-in maps, not to mention instances and identical dungeons, you don't really feel like your exploring. The total landmass in WoW feels much smaller. Not to mention travel was much harder in EQ. Nowadays EQ has modernized to incorporate WoW features, but there was nothing like the early days of EQ. I don't play either anymore.

WoW and almost all of the aspects of it were copied from Asheron's Call 2. From the crafting aspect to the skill tree's and to the level cap and gui it was virtually identical. I noticed this after I started playing AC2 and then WoW came out soon after. (Thus destroying it)

I actually just started UO again for the heck of it. They made a transition with Age Of Shadows to an item based game and it was pretty awful. At this point it's started to get more refined as they've expanded and refined the system and added a lot more things to fight.

And it's still the only place where you can design and build your own house. Here's a picture of the one I built yesterday.

UO house

I remember when there were only a few house designs. I really do miss the Dread Lord Vs Glorious Lord battles at the cross-roads. Ahh, memories. I was Baja and SP.

Yeah I'm on Baja. I got my friend on the game and he got some coworkers on it and one of them ended up the GM of LoD.

As for me, I played it from the beginning. First house I placed was actually a blue tent. ;) Their big plan right now is adding more events and reviving faction warfare to get people back to Fel. We'll see how it goes. At any rate, with my limited gameplay time, UO is the only thing I can play for hour long spurts and do something fun.

But, ya, I played EQ briefly. It's where I realized I hated forced grouping. Still, I first tried a half elf in Qeynos. Then rolled a dwarf and wanted to get to Qeynos cause I was more familiar with the place. So at lvl 2 I travelled across the entire EQ world to get to Qeynos shouting and getting direction from players in various zones. Good times.

Haha, I was CoJ. We fought LoD all the freaking time. One of my friends is/was pretty high up in that guild.
