Is anyone interested in seeing comparisons between a 4790K and a 9700K?

I decided to jump in and buy a 9700K, motherboard, and 32GB of memory. I'll be using my same 1080Ti and monitor, so it's basically just a processor upgrade. I couldn't find a lot of information about people doing this upgrade, so I was wondering if any of you wanted to see any comparisons between the two. I'm not sure when I'll be building the new system, it seems that my new case has been absorbed by some other dimension, but hopefully it will be no later than tomorrow.

As you can see, it's not that great of an upgrade on paper unless you're specifically going after multithreaded workloads. It looks like there's a general 5-10% performance gain with all else being equal. I let my motherboard overclock to what it thought was best, which turns out to be 5GHz. At that point I think you can make an argument for the processor if you're willing to spend money to cool it.

Too many commercial reviews just focus on comparing current generation CPU's and don't include the sorts of CPU's people already have.

edit: there is no 9700k I don't think but with the 9900K and 9600k being present it's pretty easy to guess where it would be.

Still rocking a 4770K @ 4.8GHz (can push to 5GHz for quick runs) so a comparison would be interesting, not planning an upgrade until next year but would be useful information to many.

I don't think the 9700K can do that, even though it has eight cores. I think hyperthreading is just completely disabled. I had it disabled on my 4790K anyway until I enabled it for these tests

Well then 4 cores to 4 cores. Just to get an idea of any actual improvements since Haswell.

I went from a 2600k to the 4790k with around the same % improvement for single core.
The 4 extra real cores would help (and anything that does use them shows a real difference)
I'll stick with the 4790k for a while longer.......

Thanks for putting this up. I'm planning to stick to my 4790K for a while. Before that I had an OC'd 920, and found that the improvement over it wasn't very noticeable either.

Quake 1 at 700fps is impressive though.
