Its extremely high putting you well into the 90th percentile - but unless its a real IQ test its not worth crap. I've had tests tell me my IQ was 75 (making me a retard essentially) and also 165 online, so you really must take a good one :)

100 is average ltk007 - or rather the median meaning exactly half of the population is above that and half is below.

147 is very good. I can't remember the lower divisions but I thought that 130 was gifted then 160 was genius. I've had some like 145's on online stuff but when mine was measured for the gifted program back in like first grade at school it was 173. So take that as you like about online testing. Like Skoorb said, you need to take a good test.

It depends. If you took the Standford Binet or the Wexler, it's very high (Almost as high as mine! :p ). Average is 100.
There is usually an error or +/- 3 points.

If you took anything else, I have no idea!

Me thinks if you're an American educated adult and you don't understand the basic statistic bell curve behind the IQ score, you should be at the left hand side of the bell lip.

Mean is 100. Standard deviation of 15. That's a full 3 SD points above the average. That's around 97% higher than the rest of the population.

All the online tests are 100% BS. You could score 150 on an online test, and maybe 100 on a REAL test administered by a person.

And actually, I think a real score of 120-130 is entering genius levels. 140+ is genius.

I took a battery of IQ tests in grade school for the gifted program but there are private professionals who will test you (or your children) for about $200.

Just remember that intelligence is extremely hard to measure.

There are several kinds of intelligences, so there is no shame in being 'average' according to an IQ test. The Wexler and Standford Binet are about the best out there, but I still don't see them as being the last word in intelligence.

A ultra high score is NOT correlated with success.

I found the Stanford-Binet to rely very heavily on pattern recognition. Most of the problems were very easy to see once you realized there was a pattern or some sort of symmety to them.

<< The Stanford-Binet is a standardized test, meaning that norms were established during the design phase of the test by administering the test to a large, representative sample of the test population. The test has a mean, or average, standard score of 100 and a standard deviation of 16 (subtests have a mean of 50 and a standard deviation of 8). The standard deviation indicates how far above or below the norm the subject's score is. For example, an eight-year-old is assessed with the Stanford-Binet scale and achieves a standard age score of 116. The mean score of 100 is the average level at which all eight-year-olds in the representative sample performed. This child's score would be one standard deviation above that norm. >>

Check out this page for a good explanation of the Stanford-Binet.

The people who make the tests and figure out how smart someone else is must be real smart indeed. Or else they need a real job, one or the other. All your IQ are belong to us!

Thanks for the info, everyone! Well, at least the people who had something constructive to say. As to the people who attack my intelligence for asking this, well you know what they say about belittling others. It shows your lack of intelligence.....sorry to point that out.

Replevin -

1. That is not my score, I am inquiring about what a high score would be.

2. I do not have a score yet. Perhaps my asking about where and how you go about taking a test would have tipped this off, but I guess that would take some intelligence to have that insight.

Well - the tester pee'd his pants when my score came out at 197, so 147 is good, I suppose.

Well I scored a 182 in the Stanford-Binet in grade 4. I can attest that the process means nothing. My parents were called in and from that point on, after skipping two grades, I guarantee you that the pressure from teachers etc. to quote unquote perform oft times made me wish I'd scored below 100. The funny thing is that my perception has changed 180 degrees since then.
