Personally, I'd be surprised if most 18 year old girls haven't had sex at least once by that age. I certainly wouldn't be shocked by it that's for sure.
 
Considering the shit they spew on TV with 12 year olds "dating" and talking about their "issues" with daddy in what appears to be a functional family (I'm looking at you 7th Heaven), yes.

If your the father and your "little girl" just sent you a text to let you know she had her cherry busted by some strange dude on a beach......yeah...it's bad.

It was on the same channel as the 6 o'clock news, someone left it on the channel, and I saw the scene when I was walking by... I swear man.
 
Bad for the 18 yr old guys (+/- 2 years)? Not in the least.

Bad for the girl if shes with a 23+ yr old guy? Yes.

Humans are biologically able to have medically safe sex in their early-mid teen years (14ish depending on the person). I do not mean it's medically safe to get preg at that age, but that is a possible consequence so I would have to say "safe sex" isn't realistic until 16/17 depending on person.

A 18 yr old having sex is totally fine physically. Mentally/emotionally is another thing entirely and depends on the girl.

But the sex in and of itself isn't bad...unless you're the girl's father of course.

Personally, I think as a father you'd have to be pretty naive to think your little angel wasn't going to have sex with guys at some point in her young adult life and that you would have had conversations with her about practicing safe sex prior to this text message.

i'm not havign sex with any 18 year old girls so i don't know if they are bad or not. maybe she just isn't experienced enough to have a good technique?

I wouldn't have reacted like he did either. I guess I'd talk to her later and make sure she was being safe, but I wouldn't try and punish her for having sex.

Do young girls have sex ...sure they do.

There was a time when fathers married their 13 & 14 year olds of for a cow pig or horse....hell in some parts of the world that still goes on...does that mean that I should think it's ok?

I mean it's their culture....it's been their way of life for hundreds of years right?

Obviously you are not a father....the point is that no real father who gives a shit about their kid really like the idea of his daughter on a beach somewhere bare assed getting boned.

In inner cities if you don't have a child by 18 something is very wrong with you.

I learned this view by listening to NPR during the elections.
 
By the rules that apply here, as long as you're a member here and you're the one doing her, it doesn't matter how young she is. If you're not however, you better be exactly her age if she's 18 or less or -/+3 yrs her age if she's over 18 or you're fit to have a seat with Hansen.

Just that many young people aren't capable of handling a platonic relationship let alone a sexual/romantic one.

There are lots of consequences that come from having sex such as lost friendships, branding, intimacy issues, and a lot of people, not just teens, aren't aware of or aren't ready for those issues to arise.

Am I saying "abstinence! abstinence!" No. Everyone has to have a first time. So long as they use protection and are sure they're REALLY ready to walk through that door, then have fun.
