What time is appropriate? Not before noon as far as I'm concerned.

dude then i only have 10 hours to play loud music :( between 12pm and 10pm :(
That's what headphones are for. Get a good pair and you'll be just fine.

Most headphones have crappy quality unless you wanna pay $200+ for it...

Legally or be nice? I know my city allows me to play my music at 7am-10pm at 45dba, otherwise its 35dba.

I beg to differ, overall headphones are a much better bargain for getting good sound quality.

I would take $200 headphones vs $200 speakers any day.

Depending on your apartment complex it may NEVER be allowed to play loud music. Think of the families with babies, etc. If someone complains about your music, it doesnt matter what time it is, you will be told to turn it off.

Well i can't think of any good reasons to pay $200 for a headphone after having a $1500 speaker setup :)

My downstairs neighbor woke me up again at 5:50 AM. He comes out on his patio, which is right underneath my bedroom window, chainsmokes, and caughs his lungs out very loud. So I talked to him, and he said "Caughing is just something that is natural."
Well, sleeping is something that is natural too. If he doesn't stop or die soon, It's going to be time for retaliatory action. Maybe some jumping jacks at 3 AM on top of his bedroom.

A bucket of cold water would be more effective.

Just piss out the window and when he complains tell him piss is just something that is natural.

hahaha, i cant stop laughing!!!!

Lmao, I actually plan on doing this. My girlfriend lives in a small apartment complex (9 units) and the guy who lives right next door to her plays loud sh1t at all hours of the day. Some days it will be 3am or 8am or 2pm, its just all over the place. She has asked him to turn it down before, as have I. He will usually keep it low for a day or two then its back to normal.

The manager lives on the floor below and he told the guy he will just start shutting his power off, lol. The manager is a cool guy and so are the other neighbors. I talked to them about me bringing my sub and an amp over and just running really low base for a few hours. They are all cool with it since they all hate this guy, lol. I have a Rel and in the past I have been able to shake stuff off walls on a totally different floor of my house using test tones, lol. We shall see how much he likes it...

Edit = And I totally agree that $200 headphones will generally beat speakers costing much more. And 9am is generally WAY to early to be playing loud music.

During the weekend, no. During the weekday -- if you are sleeping at 9:00am on a weekday that means you need to get your sorry ass a job. WAKE UP MUTHAFKA!

Hey, welcome to ATOT :)

Hell yes, 9am is way too early.. Please have consideration for others who do not follow your schedule. I worked graveyard shift for a while last year, and I had to deal with this kind of thing...
