Is 800Watts enough?

I'm building a new A64 computer. I heard that you need big power supplies for those. I bought a power supply used the other day. I thought I got a good deal, but I read somewhere about 24 pin power connectors. It doesn't have those, but it has two 6pin motherboard connectors. They both say "AT" on them. I think its short for ATX. Another thing about it is that there is no fan; at all. It also doesn't have a name brand or any kind of sticker on it. On the one side it says "800Watt" written in sharpie. Is this power supply good enough for my new computer?
 
I wouldn't trust that PSU. 800W written in Sharpie means nothing at all. It probably doesn't even have an ATX12V plug. Get a quality PSU.

(Edit: Yeah, I was sleepy when I skimmed the post and replied. I didn't notice the "AT." 6/10.)
 
The motherboard plug is 2 large connectors that are 6pins each
The guy said that you plug them in side by side on the motherboard.
 
Lol, in Sharpie......C'mon man, don't take the easy way out, get a nice OCZ, Antec, PC&P, or Enermax PSU.
 
6-pin legacy connectors? Those are for old things; you need a square, black and yellow 4-pin ATX12V plug (and sufficient amperage on that 12V rail to use it).

Get a Seasonic, Fortron (PCP&C, OCZ, and Zippy/Emacs use Fortron parts), Antec, or Enermax with 18-20 amps on the +12V rail.
 
2 large 6 pin connectors?

Dude, you got an AT power supply. Those things are used only for OLD granddaddy original IBM ATs, 386s, 486s, and first-generation Pentium-I's.

It will NOT, repeat, NOT work with an A64 rig. For that you need an ATX power supply, which usually has one single 20-pin plug (and most have an additional 4-pin 12v plug).

The guy I bought it from said that 800 Watts was enough to run motherboards with big capacitors on them to make it stable. He really seems to know his stuff.

lol! Hilarious man! Kid, there are never abbreviations on electronic devices or whatnot that would bring your letter count from "3 letters" to 2 per say. Now words like "specifications" CAN be shortned to words like "specs". Another thing, more releavant to this topic would be like the word "PSU" which is abbrevated form of the word "powersupply".

There is a 99% chance that you just got ripped off...
1. Never assume something in electronics
2. Agian coming back to the two 6pin lines, thats an assumption that just made this PSU even more worthless then it already is....
3. The words "800watt" in sharpie is a dead givaway that they are bull shitting you, it's even worse because they don't even show you the manufacterer because they know you would look it up.
4. AT powersupplies are from an era where they had manual switches to turn off computers and the whole power configuration thing was MUCH more dangerous then it is now.
