Is 800Watts enough?

You ARE joking right? You have to have seen the multitude of threads about "Is this PSU enough?" and know that 450W is usually overkill, esp if you buy a good PSU.

Did you even read the thread?

Ya, I made the story up. I'm bored cause I don't have a date tonight and I just want attention.

Your Join date kinda gave you away. If someone who joined AT forums for so long, and doesnt know what the difference betwen AT and ATX psus are, that would be the opposite of amazing.

No, I'd say amazing would be the right word.
Amazingly stupid 🙂

Philippine, you have a reading comprehension issue don't you?

I thought the story was good, but for a second I thought you were serious.

Uh for one thing I didn't bother to scroll down until AFTER I posted..... On what basis have you come to the conclusion that I have a reading comprehension problem?

Never post a reply to a thread if you aren't going to bother reading the thread. It's spam if you are just repeating what someone else already said or if it's obviously pointless in this case.

May be measuring total power consumption on your power bill ;-) including PSU leakage and all.
900 watts I am sure would be way too much for most home PC's... even if you have a dual opteron with 5 HDs and all... it's way too much... something is wrong there.

Jeff

800 watts!!!

that's the same power output that a standard George Foreman Grill uses to
"cut the fat"

you'll have a "Lean, Mean, Grillin' Machine" in addition to a fine psu. Personally, i would love to see a computer case that doubled as health promoting kitchen appliance. This sounds ideal for college dormatories..you could use a empty drive bay as a "Bun Warmer"

1,000,000 W = 1 Megawatt

😱

Yes, the decimal was wrong, my bad.

1GW would be 1,000,000,000 watts, or 1,000,000 MW.

Cheers!

Maybe my math skills are a bit rusty, but that should be 1 GW == 1,000 MW 😉

ROFL...........

Has our forum been taken over with liberal arts majors?

I'm afraid to even ask what is a nanosecond, a picofarad, or a terraflop

Yes I posted WRONG yet again. Pretty bad for an EE major with 20+ years experience.

Everything (the silly power cos) use is in kW which sucks when you have customers using high demands.

1,000 kW is 1 MW and 1,000 MW is 1GW. 1,000,000 MW would be 1 TW. opps 😱

Incidentally, the SI Table:

Factor Name Symbol
10^24 yotta Y
10^21 zetta Z
10^18 exa E
10^15 peta P
10^12 tera T
10^9 giga G
10^6 mega M
10^3 kilo k
10^2 hecto h
10^1 deka da

Factor Name Symbol
10^-1 deci d
10^-2 centi c
10^-3 milli m
10^-6 micro µ
10^-9 nano n
10^-12 pico p
10^-15 femto f
10^-18 atto a
10^-21 zepto z
10^-24 yocto y

Cheers!

LOL

PLease forgive the fun at your expense.

For what it is worth it came from a EE with only 17 years experience.... unless you count 6 years as a Nuke ET (USN)

Here's to a good (and small) world
