Is 155 KB/sec approx 1.5 MB/sec?

I'm downloading and getting 155 KB/sec is that like 1.5 MB/sec? You'd think I would know that stuff, but I don't.

ummm no

1024kb = 1mb

unless you are talking about kilobytes and megabits. in that case 155kilobytes is approximately 1.2megabits

That's what I first thought when I experienced broadband. When I experienced the 3meagbit barrier I almost crapped my pants.

Wait'll you experience the 3 megaBYTE barrier. /splooge. I love this school connection, but its hard to find servers that can sustain 3MB/s down.

kilo BYTE (KB) = kilobit / 8
kilo bit (kb) = kilobyte * 8

1024 kilobits = 1 megabit

155 x 8 = 1240 kilobits / s = 1.21 megabits /s

but usually factors of 10 is easier and that's what companies use prolly.

Megabytes = MB
Megabits = Mb or mb

If I'm wrong about those abbreviations, feel free to correct them. :D
