I recall Media Matters was urging private investigators to find dirt of Fox News employees. They weren't supposed to be directly engaged in politics under their tax status. IRS did nothing despite being urged to.

Just wait til IRS and Dems are running health-care and using their iphone apps to check peoples party registrations.

Obama admin is wicked. Not inept or misguided. They kill Mexicans with Fast & Furious and hang their own Benghazi staff out to be killed. They use dead kids like props after Newton. They ruin health-care pretending to help. They send arms to Al Qaeda and help Muslim Brotherhood get rid of allies. They are just wicked.

Yep Damm office being run by a liberal... I mean republican.

"IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman told Congress in March 2012 that the IRS was not targeting groups based on their political views.

Shulman was appointed by President George W. Bush. His 6-year term ended in November. President Barack Obama has yet to nominate a successor. The agency is now being run by acting Commissioner Steven Miller."

Do you have any proof he is a Republican? Admins will often throw the other party a bone and appoint some from the other party to some lower level agencies.

He did donate $500 to a democrat in 2004, so not sure he is an R. In any case, it doesn't matter, unless one is only interested in partisan sniping.

Wow, for the first time someone listened to lower level workers and then got into trouble! I thought that used to happen only after listening to highly paid people in high positions in the government and history.

You mean the IRS is targeting groups widely known for being full of dishonest people is a bad thing?

These are things that Republicans actually believe, which is incredible. I guess when you party caters to the lowest of the common denominators, this is what you end up with.

As someone who works for a political appointee, I'll add that in most cases the appointees politics are irrelevant, only the appointer's politics matter.

They are targeting Democrats in congress?

How horrible that Republicans believe that the IRS shouldn't be used to punish political opponents, those monsters!

It looks as if the IRS was also targeting pro-Israeli groups for "special scrutiny" due to their "political differences" with the administration. I guess when Obama said he intends to "punish our enemies" he meant using the IRS as a weapon.
http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/348013/irs-inquisition-update

In addition, the IRS agent told a Z STREET representative that the applications of some of those Israel-related organizations have been assigned to “a special unit in the D.C. office to determine whether the organization’s activities contradict the Administration’s public policies.”

he may well be. but not because of this. i doubt very much Obama has anything to do with this.

You voted for a corrupt Chicago machine politician and you got one in office. Enjoy the corruption and malfeasance of his administration while he's in office.

Well. Finally a good news day. Da is a God.

You piece of shit. You would be outraged if this happened to a liberal group but

"it's alright to do it to Conservatives?"

Ding ding ding. You win the door prize! :D

The lefties here are whistling past the graveyard. The right has made a habit of fixating on one false "outrage" after another, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while, and they've found one here. What happened here was wrong, and is inexcusable, period. A full investigation needs to be done and everyone involved fired and/or charged.

It was begun by low level staffers, it was continued by higher level administrators. Are you in favor of using the Internal Revenue Service as a weapon against any administrations enemies?

You have, of course, no proof whatsoever to back that up. But you already believe. It's that magical Birther headset where giant leaps of Faith can easily overcome anything.

It may be true. I'm sure that Issa will get to the bottom of it, but not before pandering to his base of fringe whack outrage addicts with their fave snipe hunt game. They never tire of it.

Saw an article about the IRS purposefully targeting the Tea Party starting in 2011. Looks like they may have bagged a snipe.

Let's ask ourselves who the Tea Party hurt the most in the last election cycle. :whiste:

An article based on what? Anonymous sources? And you saw it where? Newsmax? Breitbart? Or the National Inquirer?

He been a Reg Republican his life, as far back as I can see.

http://www.ourcampaigns.com/CandidateDetail.html?CandidateID=189591

He also gave to Christie-Toomey '16, republican.

So for all those blaming the "liberals" and "Obama", the IRS was headed by a republican the whole time this happened.

I haven't seen any evidence of that yet, either. But, you have to admit that it will be quite interesting, and damning, if that part is true. IF it ever gets linked to ANYONE at the white House -- even just simple knowledge of it being done -- it might even be worse than the Benghazi issue

When it rains, it pours.

Are you suggesting that it's okay for the IRS to abuse its power as long as they do it to people you dislike? Otherwise, I don't know what that's supposed to mean.

Agreed. I have grown weary of many of the right wing outrages but this political action by a govt entity against an "enemy" should be intolerable! Honestly heads should roll for this and I'm suprised that this hasn't gained more traction. I would be just as upset had this happened during a Repub admin and the IRS targeted groups like the ACLU.

I know how much everybody likes Palin so here's a quote from her.

"Between the Benghazi cover-up and the IRS targeting Obama’s political opponents, we see the corruption at the heart of big government," Palin wrote. "Americans should remember that this same corrupt IRS will be in charge of enforcing Obamacare. And this same inept and corrupt government will supposedly secure our now unsecured borders in advance of immigration reform and will implement a completely ethical and non-political IPAB panel to make life and death health care decisions for you and your family."

The fundamental transformation is going to be in your face.
