I like Downey and think he's adorable. (unlike Seth Logan whom I can barely stand on screen) But I am not sure about this 15 sec intro. Hopefully the real footage will be more impactful and fun.

At least critics got what they wanted, I suppose? HTC is taking marketing seriously! Downey is a popular figure and undoubtedly expensive for hire. (I won't even venture to guess $$$$..)

What i have read that he is charging $12 M for the campaign, the amount HTC spent last year (2012) for marketing.

HTC will spend a total of $1 Billion on marking campaign this year.

Since smartphones is the only domain of their earning this campaign means everything for the Taiwanese company.
