Yes the R8 is awesome. Stark had quite the collection of cars, too bad the cobra got smashed...

Has anyone in this thread cast a dissenting vote ... at all?

My wife and I sat and watched the movie for a while ... and then walked. I almost fell asleep from boredom and the lack of anything new. Everything that happened (up until I stopped watching) was expected and unsurprising.

We ended up watching "27 Dresses" and loved it. That tells you what I thought about the movie. God I'm getting old. When will Hollywood EVER put out something new and innovative?

As someone who loves comic book movies, this movie is one of the best. Easily able to be talked about in the same sentences as Batman Begins and Spiderman 1. The movie was able to put the backstory, the character development, and fused that with great action scenes. This Iron Man movie is something that the comic book movies have needed for awhile. What a great movie. Recommend it 100% and would pay to watch it again.

Great movie, best hero movie in a while (last batman, for example, was boring and garbage). Paltrow, who i'm no fan of, looked exceptional, truly. Just very agreeable and classy.

You left ironman to watch 27 dresses. I have nothing to add for this, but I feel agony on your behalf.

saw this tonight - very well done, some funny, witty dialogue in there.

however, i wouldn't say it was as epic as transformers. i'm still very pleased, though. definitely a movie to pick up on blu ray/DVD

Some questions:

1. The audio was muffled and fucked up in the theater. What was the reason for the dude installing a core in Stark's chest in the first place? It's holding the shrapnels? I don't know how this part is trying to be realistic.

2. Does Stark's villain actually count as War Machine? I think he has to. In the movie franchise, I think it would be awfully redundant in the sequel to feature another villain that's the 'real' war machine.

1) electromagnet that pulls the shrapnel toward it (keeping it out of stark's heart)

2) umm, Rhodes = War Machine, not Stane. the villain is Iron Monger.

I was really confused because... the Avengers Initiative comes after Civil War, doesn't it? And... Nick Fury goes MIA before that, I thought. + its waaaaaaaay too early for Civil War to even begin (Iron Man JUST became Iron Man).

Like I said, the movie seems to exist in its own separate continuity.

This movie was one of the best comic book adaptions, imo. Close to Batman Begins and much better than Spidey 1. I'm not a big fan of Downey, but even before I saw the movie I could see him playing Stark easily with the right script. The script was there and he pulled it off flawlessly.

On a sad note, I saw the trailer for the Hulk and I think that movie will suck, or at best, be no better than the earlier Hulk.

I heard rumors somewhere that Robert Downy Jr. will make a cameo as Tony Stark in the upcoming Hulk movie? Does anyone know if this is true?

I hope it is because I like to have a connected Marvel movie universe where characters can make appearances in other movies -- that would be just like the excitement I got as a kid when comic book characters appeared in each others comic books.

why cant they turn up the magnet so the shrapnel will tear through his internals a little by little, which can heal on the way out?

Saw it yesterday, great movie! Definitely stay after the credits; all of the real nerds did and there was a big cheer when that last clip played.

KT

Edit: they also showed previews for Hulk and Dark Knight, both of which look freaking amazing!

I saw it on Friday. It was kickass! I was never a fan of the comic book. It was a good movie, not picture of the year but very entertaining and well worth seeing in the theatre.

BrownTown, RT Community has always been accurate for me. The critics rating (the first page you see when you look up a movie) can sometimes be fail.

Dude ...

I was commenting on the sorry state of crap that vomits forth from that holiest of places ... Hollywood. They expect us to just swallow up any/all the garbage that they put out and call a "movie". Many people who would normally be considered "dregs" of society are multi-millionaire "actors/actresses" in this magical place.

I really did not enjoy the movie ... sorry Hollywood, you didn't get my money.

In my opinion, movies should be watched, not thought about. The whole idea that a movie should have a plot or any depth at all is just a mistake. Plenty of Action + Sexy Women = Good Movie. I judge a movie by this measure, If you can string the individual scenes together in any order and still get an awesome movie, then Hollywood did a good job on it.

Well they obviously did if you watched 27 dresses unless you watched it with ap eg leg and a patch over one eye.

Iron Man was actually a lot of fun, though without RDJ I don't think it would have been half the movie it was.
