How silly, of course. If we just stop building weapons and sing by the campfires, their would be no terrorists and the world would be one big happy party.

Quit with the cartoon links please Infohawk. Those are hands-down the dumbest and most poorly drawn political cartoons I've EVER seen

Sorry charlie, I'm gonna' keep pointing out how these people think. Unfortunately, they have a huge influence for our country right now. If you don't like 'em, don't click on 'em. (If you mouse over the link in your browser and it says www.oneimage.org... then you will know it's a religious nut cartoon).

What's really funny (other than your elitist bigotry, that's kinda funny too) is that they are by Hal Lindsey. Apparently he's given up predicting the end of the world.

OK, how do you square that with this?
"Wouldn't you prefer to address the news then to attack me?" How does you little bashing in the OP address the news?
Or how about this gem?
"If you don't want to discuss the missing briefs, go away." So are you telling yourself to go away because of your OP?

********

Anyway - this sucks eitherway. If he was kidnapped - it sucks and we need to find him. If he deserted - it sucks and we need to find him.

The pic and the OP show how some people envisioned the invasion of Iraq, especially fundamentalist christians.

And the pic had what to do with the breifing or the desertion/kidnapping? Oh...that's right...NOTHING - it was just you trolling.

The briefing / desertion was yet another case of Iraqis not liking Americans or things going wrong in iraq. The pic showed how people like you THOUGHT the war would go despite people warning you otherwise. So they definitely have something to do with each other.

The density of partisanship over the last few days makes me wonder whether this board will ever be viable again.

Infohawk, I like you, and there was a time you were a solid citizen here. Lately, though, you've become so consumed with your hatred of the Bush administration (of which I am no fan myself) that your posts are nearly always nasty partisan trolls. I know you are capable of better, and I'd like to see you mellow out a bit. I'd suggest you may want to take a self-imposed vacation from this place, because it's got you entirely too wound up. I know what that's like myself.

As to the subject matter of this thread, it's disconcerting indeed. We are in a very tricky situation vis a vis Iraq, in that we NEED the cooperation and assistance of the Iraqis, yet a meaningful percentage of them clearly hate us and are happy to take advantage of their status as military insiders to kill Americans.

Securing a lasting peace in Iraq will be tricky indeed, and may be impossible.

for the many Americans, friendlies, and civilians who will likely die in the battle for Fallujah.

Stop thread-crapping dude. I gave you an answer and you're just bleating. The pic directly relates to the OP and plus it's funny.

I'm not sure why that is related to this thread and why you couldn't PM that...

No it doesn't directly relate - you decided to plop a big turd in your OP to start a flame war. You reap what you sew.

Now why on earth would the military release this to the press if they are planning an operation? Anyone find that odd????? Doesn't it potentially let the terrorists know that they have a possible source for information on the operation? I really don't see the purpose of releasing this to the press before the operation takes place.

Interesting idea... (Excepe the part that assumes Americans are fighting terrorists). May be correct. Or maybe the guy is supposed to give them bogus plans?

I'm not sure I understand why this entire operation has been so public prior to it even taking place....if 150k people have already left the city, isn't it possible that the intended targets have left too?

Heck, no point in that either. Tried to talk to you about that via PM and it turned into who would get the last word. I think you've been a bit too partisan lately, Infohawk. I don't see what is denigrating about people wanting to help you. Sorry for interrupting.

The administration hasn't been that big on "intelligence".

I have a better idea. How about rational people -without some overpowering political axe to grind- bring up the important issues in a non-sarcastic, non-gloating manner. Then we can all have a nice discussion of what's happening, what it means, and where it's going.

Wait... that may be too much to ask for in a forum like this, as people who were before simply being negative to get their guy elected have now turned into virtual terrorist cheerleaders in their spite and rage over the re-election of their most hated enemy Bush.
Typical hate-monger. They attack even when you agree with their absurd positions.
