Israel has a choice to pro-actively protect itself which is should use. Destroying Irans ability to launch any attacks would do nothing but help further peace in the middle east. If Iran wants to be left alone and be allowed to "progress" peacefully they should pursue peaceful activities, funding terrorism and extremists when declaring there intent to destroy Israel and pursuing activities to reach that goal is not the work of a "peaceful" nation.

Israel doesn't have a few hundred nukes of its own? I mean, do the Iranians really want to be wiped off the map? Hell, israel gets nuked, persians get nuked, the arabs celebrate.
I think that the assumption that an entire nation is not bound by MAD is a bit silly. Besides, Iran could get one nuke off before they got irradiated completely.
Dialogue has really gotten far with Arabs, they have an "all or nothing" attitude and Iran has showed that repeatedly recently. The attitude I convey and one favored by many Israel politicians will not lead to the destruction of Israel, but to its success and will finally allow the people of Israel to rest and stop having to worry about the future and if there will be one. If Israel can destroy Irans ability to deliver this lethal blow than the remaining Arab states will be forced into talks and having to recognize Israel and make peace.
You are dealing with a country who believes that they will be rewarded as martys if they die attempting to wipe the infidels off holy lands. Iran doesn't care about the repercussions.
The country believes this? The people believe it? Or a bunch of bearded men on the clerical council believes this? The iranians generally are less nutty than other brown folks, specifically the arabs.

Not going to happen. The future fate of Israel lies in whether it can come to terms with its' neighbours. If it Nukes Iran, it's game over. If Iran Nukes Israel, it's game over for Iran. It is really that simple, using Nukes solve nothing, but continued Military pestering will force others to acquire Nukes.
They can't very well acquire nukes if Israel continues a policy of destroying the building capabilities (Syria, Iraq). I don't know where you got the idea that as soon as Irael goes "ok guys, peace now" than the sun will shine and flowers will pop up and we will have peace in the Middle East. Every peace agreement Israel has tried to initiate has been stonewalled by the Arab states. They want to play rough thats fine, I have no sympathy for them when they are returned to the stone age.
I've said it before and I will say it again, is the Arab states and Iran put there weapons down, we would have peace, if Israel put her weapons down she would be destroyed.

Say it all you want, not going to happen. Israel has the opportunity to solve the Palestinian situation. They should get on that. They need Bold Moves, but hitting every potential Nuke program is not that move. Eventually a program will exist that is not Strikeable, then Israel will need to deal with the consequences of a Nuclear neighbour.
My mind is not gonna change on this subject, so I'm leaving this thread.
What does adapting to the region entail in the ME? Should Israel throw aside democracy, and de-evolve to the middle ages in order to culturally fit in with many of it's backward neighbors?
The moment anyone attacks another nation with a nuke, in these modern times, there will be a heavy nuclear retaliation on the aggressor. If Iran attacks Israel in that way, neither nation will exist, period. The fear mongering of the right and the God fearing Christians are trumping this bullshit up. Only idiots would think that starting a nuclear war is on any nations mind, pure lunacy.

Agreed, it would be foolish. RichardE Isreal needs to solve their issues with their neighboring countries diplomatically. Since their the new kid on the block can't go around telling everyone what to do. Peace is achieved with respect for one another.
Diplomacy is not going to work. Iran is going to keep advancing towards nuclear weapons. Israel will use the specially configured F-16s they have against them.
Israel will not be pacifist and let Iran get the bomb like we let NK. Ask Iraq and Syria.
So you figure the entire region will just put up with Israel's strike-first behavior indefinitely and that Israel will maintain a 100% effective rate at stopping its enemies attempts at developing nuclear weapons? ..forever?

I can't speak for them, or tell the future. I am niether an Israeli national, nor jewish. I'm just looking at the past, and using that as a pretty good indicator as to what is going to happen with Iran.
And if they can stop anyone else in the world from having nukes, more power to them. The less people with thier finger on the button, the better.
