So did the British and the French. So what? The main source of internal conflict in the Islamic world is the split between the Suni and Shi'ite sects.

In this particular situation Arabs, in general, do not hate Iranians and Iranians, in general, do not hate Arabs.

Instead, you have a complex political/religious competition between the power centers of the two sects, Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
