You realize that they make the same statement every year, right? That North Korea said that, right? That the soviets said that, right?

What action do you suggest we take?
You realize those truly in charge in Iran do not make those statements every year......
as far as when former President Mahmūd Ahmadinezhād, he made those very statements and some of you bleeding heart pro-Iranian peeps claimed that due to mistranslation he never exactly said those things...rofl@Iranian apologists!!

No, I am 50. The dancing is over, they said no more nuke compliance and that they want to destroy us. Public statement.

So?

He nails the point. Iran's remarks are aimed at the nuke compliance negotiations. This is another step in that dance. They made it clear in the opening paragraphs of the article:

Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, all but said on Sunday that negotiations over the country’s illicit nuclear program are over and that the Islamic Republic’s ideals include destroying America.

“Those (Iranians) who want to promote negotiation and surrender to the oppressors and blame the Islamic Republic as a warmonger in reality commit treason,” Khamenei told a meeting of members of parliament, according to the regime’s Fars News Agency.

As of now talks are off. I assume they are waiting for more concessions from Obama.

Pretty amusing considering I'd heard on NPR driving home Friday they had a team that would make more sense as they were US educated for the most part on the Iranian side.

Guess not.

Best thing America can do in regards to this inflammatory rhetoric is sending secret, covert operatives to Iran to foment a coup to overthrow the government. Rather than having an Iranian president, let's install a Western friendly, reformist Shah to rule Iran. That'll turn things around and straighten this country out.

:awe:

I see what you did there.

It has worked for the past 70 years, and is certainly the perception that is driving nations to develop nuclear weapons.

it will continue to work until effective anti ballistic missile technologies are developed and are deployed and are reliable

Israel has nuclear weapons and are attacked almost daily. A nation has to have both the weapons and the ability to use them for the deterrence to be effective.

they are attacked by civilians

how would they go about using nukes in a low intensity conflict

nukes are supposed to deter military invasion taking over the country

this is american government memorial day propaganda, congrads on falling for it. of course iran is hostile to the u.s., we installed one of the most brutal dictators in history as head of their country. why would they ever trust us motives again--would you under those circumstances? a lot of times that stuff is cia mistranslations anyway, they need to keep the masses scared and militant so well keep supporting nonstop wars. in any case looking out for your own interests instead of the us's isnt a freaking crime, unless youre american.

At heart it's a sectarian competition not an ethnic one. Shi'ite Muslim vs Suni Muslim.
