It seems they've certainly been successful in manipulating your perceptions of this entire incident.

Good stuff! :D

You're lame, attempting to characterize my perception at all. I have no idea what actually transpired, never offered that I did.

But, tell me, how does the US come out looking good to the ROTW?

First, you must ask yourself if the U.S. even wants to "come out looking good to the ROTW" in this incident.

oh yes, a rumored nuclear arsenal, which if used properly can wipe out every nuclear facility

AND israel has the power to take out major military posts in iran.

You're a moron if you think Israel is going to use nukes preemptively, they'd be finished. Not even the US would stand for that.

Without Nukes Israel can't do anything to stop the nuclear program, merely slow it down.

You're a moron if you think we'd do anything to Israel, or let the middle east do anything to Israel after they nuked Iran.

I for one can't wait until they get them, hope they all get them. What's that saying about an armed society is a polite society?

Yes, because having the rest of the world think that we kidnap innocent civilians in other countries is such a good reputation to have.

This is a good thing why?

This really doesn't mean much. Iran will have nuclear weapons, there is no doubt about it, and this administration is too weak to do anything about it. Everyone knows this.

Ahhhh, someopne that thinks that actions by the gov't are highly visible in regards to matters such as this.

"U.S. paid Iranian nuclear scientist $5 million: report

(Reuters) - The Iranian nuclear scientist who said he was abducted by U.S. agents was paid more than $5 million by the CIA for information about Iran's nuclear program, The Washington Post reported on Thursday, citing U.S. officials."

my bet is this guy and his family are either going to spend the rest of their lives in Iranian prisons or they will be put to death.

It's a secular government. That doesn't mean without religious influence, because it's painfully obvious that is the case.

Now in Iran those who can run for office have to be approved by the clerics. In Pakistan, people can run for office without such approval. The laws are passed by those who are elected, and while they can't go against religious teachings officially, people have as much say as who can run for office as we have here. Considering the stranglehold the political parties have on us there's not much difference. Bow down and pray to the party platform or thou shall not hold office.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secular_state

A true secular state has its secularism codified in its constitution similar to this.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Since Pakistan bases its laws on religion,

All existing laws shall be brought in conformity with the injunctions of Islam as laid down in the Qur'an and Sunnah and no law shall be enacted which is repugnant to such injunctions.

Claiming Pakistan is secular is just as irrational as a woman trying to claim she is only a little pregnant,

But then again was it not Joseph Goebbels that said,

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. ”

Sounds like this was a seriously botched operation. Did they not anticipate that his family would be stuck in Iran after he defected for $5 million?

I don't think Iran is going to kill him and his family. It's more useful for them to keep claiming he was kidnapped and returned, and that our claims are just propaganda.

You're a moron if you think we'd do anything to Israel, or let the middle east do anything to Israel after they nuked Iran.

It would be impossible to stand by Israel after that. At the least we'd cut them loose and stop supporting them. You're delusional if you can't realize that.

I don't think Iran is going to kill him and his family. It's more useful for them to keep claiming he was kidnapped and returned, and that our claims are just propaganda.

Similar things have happened in the past with the CIA and defectors. Usually when they go home they are used for propaganda and then killed or treated like a possible double agent.
