We're getting a lot of practice of explaining how we have to defend ourselves by attacking countries who aren't overflying and invading our country.

Looks like I'll be going right around Christmas. Pretty sweet having a couple weeks notice for this deployment, last time I only had 4 days notice. The Army is getting better! :thumbsup:

Try getting 2-3 hours notice from a deep sleep 🙁

Actually, it's not impossible at all -- even in our Army! lol

That sort of response time is limited to "on call" special operations forces though. Even the "on call" rapid reaction brigades have 3 day time lines.

I had to grab my go bag and flight suit.

Primary weapon was waiting on the flight line😎
 
The one time I deployed (in late September 2001), I got about 22 hours notice. It was tricky, particularly because I had only arrived at the base a few weeks earlier.

We would not sink a Chinese vessel. Period. You can pretend all you want in your head that we might but if we wouldn't fly 140 miles into Iranian airspace to destroy the drone we damn sure aren't going to sink a Chinese ship to destroy it.

thank you, at least someone gets it.

if it did happen, china wouldn't have to respond militarily - it could respond economically or start helping Iran out. that = more US troops staying over in the M.E, more aid to israel etc etc etc.

china only has to defend china. The US has to defend the US itself, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Israel, south korea, japan and so on. if russia wanted some luls they could start sabre rattling against the US bases in eastern europe and former soviet countries and the US would be stretched pretty damn thin - and bleed money and resources even faster than it is even now.

Swing by Andrews anytime. With all the extras that go with AF-1, I am sure that some staff sgt can scrounge something up.

Be careful of the carpets, some will let you sink in up to your ankles; even with combat boots on.

Why pick on EK to be my foil, but as this tread swings on a weid tangent, lets us all worship the magnificent ability of The US military to rapididly deploy our US military personnel grunts from one dubious quagmire to another dubious quagmire?

But I heard it from the Obama horses mouth at Ft. Bragg today, honoring all the sacrices only FT Bragg people made, as they acounted for only 202 of those KIA out of the 4500 Personnel lost in the Iraq war. As Obana also metioned but did not adress, the 30,000 plus troops who will emerge from the Iraq war with permanent physical and mental disabilities. But to Obama's honestsy and credit, at least he stopped short of saying, that our last withdrawal from Iraq has lead to "PEACE WITH HONOR" in Iraq. And instead only saluted the slavish devotion of Ft Bragg personnel while the question of what will ultimately depend on the Iraqi people as they determine their foreign policy now that the US military is gone and powerless to steer future outcomes.

I want to be a Oscar mier weiner, because everyone loves to eat me. Maybe the better story of our US military grunts. Its not our reason to wonder why if this country is right or wrong, whoopie we are going to die.

One thing for sure, while your life is in danger, not a single warmonger will fail to profit.
