ipod shuffle

I want to be able to pick my songs. If all it does is continuously shuffle I wouldn't touch the thing.

Exactly. I usually listen to complete albums, in their proper track order.

Of course I got myself a Creative Nomad Zen Xtra 30 GB for xmas so I can just ignore the shuffle.

well its not like you can't select your track. you just gotta skip until you get to the song you want.

if you don't like the shuffling, you can have it play in the order you place it when you were transfering the music.

BAH, I dislike it, I would like to pick my songs, though.. you know the high amount of harddrive space does make it tempting.. though I'd pay like 150 for the 512MB if it had the ability to pick.. how much does a lil LCD on the side cost?

I don't like it. There are much better players out there for the same price or cheaper that have a whole lot more features. All this thing does is play music, no track selection, no fm, no line in, no recording, simply stick songs on and play them. Good for the person who wants simplicity but just seems to be a memory stick that happens to have a headphone jack.

Why pay $99 for a 512 MB iPod Shuffle when you can combine some coupons and/or rebates and get a generic 256 MB player for $20??

BTW: You don't have to shuffle the songs with the iPod Shuffle... there are two playback settings: shuffle and in-playlist-order. There's also forward/back/pause buttons on it. It's pretty neat, but I'd only pay $50 for the 512 MB version... and $85 for the 1 GB version.

The slider is Off/Repeat/Shuffle. It's nice if you want care about what track's playing. Still doesn't have the battery power for Sony portables. Meh.

Um U2 is awesome and if I ever do get an ipod it'll be that version. How can you not like U2?

I'd get Sandisk's MP3 player.
It takes their thumb drives so you have as much storage as you want or can swap out thumb drives.
Plus you can just take the thumb drive out and actually use it for something more than just mp3's.

I thought the original iPod would be a failure; I was wrong.

I thought the iPod mini would be a failure; I was wrong.

I will go out on a limb and say that the iPod shuffle will be a huge success.

hahahaha...I know what you mean. It really bothers me that it doesn't at least have a 2 digit display for the track number, which would be useful if you are using the shuffle mode. But whatever, I'm sure it will sell well. Someone in my office already bought one.

Well, we do work near the Apple store. Its easy to go downstairs and buy one at the company store. I think as soon as it was mentioned in the Keynote he ran to the store, because he had it right after it was over.

i think its a decent idea. it works the way people actually use flash based players with limited capacity. you use such players for sports and exersize or whatever. making playlists every time u go jogging? please, thats make work..u'll just not bother after a while, thats how it is, if something makes work for you, u will probably just not bother. if you get random parts of your music collection everytime u sync, its just like listening to a normal hd based player on shuffle,...for a shorter period. and well many people listen on random anyways.

and its small... if u look at the total volume, its basically one of the smallest. for the usage it will get, thats perfect. when you are lifting weights u shouldn't need to look at an lcd anyways😉

apple seems to think about how real people would actually use something regularly. for instance...i don't need to voice record some sh*t while i'm jogging...... just play music with little hassle.

RE:"Just wait, 6 months iPod Shuffle with one line LCD screen. 1Gb and 2Gb capacities for current price mark."

Why? They couldn't find any LCD screens for 6 months?

no, its marketing. 6 months from now they'll release some kind of updated model (2gen anyone?) to refresh the product line.
