I don't think wireless sync is ready yet. There's not enough people with high quality routers and ATT is not ready for the traffic. I can see Apple releasing printing support for the iPhone utilizing the Airport Routers.

My take is that we'll see a more polished OS. Revamped features on mail, sms, camera, youtube, etc. And other features will put other other "caught up" smartphones out of the game.

/ end analyst predictions... sleep time

so far so good!

Well.. 3 out of 7 isn't too bad. I'm happy about multitasking, folders and Mail. 🙂 And I guess multiple Exchange accounts. Now I can have my work email and my Gmail sync without having to resort to IMAP for Gmail.

I don't think I'm happy about iAd at all.. it better not be OS level ads.. or take over my device ads.

What's the obsession with achievements/gamerscore and trophies. Was it microsoft that started this?

so many game devs are so lazy at that stuff you can a reward for completing a level. Only a few really make a real reward.

Well, I might take that back.. the Toy Story 3 ad looks pretty slick. Nice.. I might actually click on ads for once.

“Now, we’re releasing a developer preview today. You can get it today at developer.apple.com. We are releasing it to end users this summer, and that’s for the iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3rd gen (last fall’s). They will run pretty much everything.”

“For iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2nd gen, they will run many things, but not everything — they will not support multitasking, the hardware just can’t do it.”

“iPhone OS 4 to the iPad this fall."

Well.. pleasantly happy with iPhone OS4.. Wish they would do more than add one BIG new feature each year (ie Copy & Paste and now Multitasking).. but oh well...

nothing there that will make me want to upgrade in a hurry. I agree about 3 out of 7 .. and I don't even use those much. I hardly multitask, don't need folders right now, and one inbox is fine for me. So we'll wait and see how this goes. I do like how they setup the multitasking ...

Ditto.. I was itching to get 3.0 last year because I really wanted Copy & paste.. but I don't feel like 4.0 is such a huge leap forward that I REALLY want it now. Just kinda.. meh.. happy that it's coming, but no rush to get it.

An observation... Jobs claims that the original iPhone and 3G won't support multitasking. The iAd "feature" demo certainly looked a lot like multitasking. But how much you want to bet that all the models magically support iAd?

Just something to entice users to upgrade. I do admit.. I go back to my wife's 3G vs my 3GS and it feels like a dog. So slow opening programs, etc.. I think after we see the new iPhone 4 device in June, the 3GS will drop to $99 and it'll be hard NOT to buy one.

Yeah, as far as I know, Microsoft started the whole achievement craze back in 2005 with the 360 launch. I absolutely LOVE achievements, I think they are an amazing meta-game, especially when they are done correctly by the developers. Achievements are the single thing that have made me get more time out of games than I ever did before they came along. XBOX 360, PS3, Steam, and WoW have all gotten me to play more simply because of achievements.

Back to OS4 stuff, I was following along with the engadget live blog, and was actually pretty stoked about most everything. Until the end where they said multitasking wouldn't be available on the 3G. Boooo. I bet they manage to get iAd working on the 3G though. Does Jobs really think people are going to get excited about ads regardless of how "interactive" they are?
