Abandonware indeed! I went back and double checked my daily apps and the latest one updated was netflix Dec of 2014, some last updated as far back as 2013. Are these "official" apps, or some developer apps that tie into the intended system? Even YouTube hasn't been updated as of 10/2013 according to this: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/youtube/dcbb1ac6-a89a-df11-a490-00237de2db9e
This really does change the field ..... more food for thought. thanks.
It's funny though. The main bitch for a long time was that WP had no apps, no 3rd party dev support, etc.
Then that started filling in, and especially in the case of some of the 1st party scenarios, doing so even better.
NOW the bitch is things like "Instagram is still in beta", when 6tag blows any official client away. Or myTube and MetroTube which smoke official YT apps.
Hell, I have an app for my thermostat, I think it's up around version 1.14? now and only launched this summer...and it's 3rd party through the official API and individual app PIN access method.
And I'm a pessimist regarding the long term viability of WP.
Personally, depending on how T-Mo rolls now with plans/phones/contracts/etc (I haven't been paying attention enough), I think you could look into just buying yourself a used WP and playing with it on T-Mo for a bit. Then if you have to, buy the iPhone, not like investment will disappear overnight.
Bit older, but a Lumia 925 would be inexpensive and still viable. Only real downside to it is the 16GB of storage.
