I think the 5s was overkill in terms of power. The a7 runs iPads fine.

I do find the lack of iPad ram noticeable. It definitely puts a crimp on multitasking.

Why do people even get samsung phones still? Samsung has the worst android implementation. If you're going to go android, at least get motorola or htc.
Removable battery and Micro SD card expansion.

iPhone 6 is primarily a Galaxy S5 competitor not the S6. It very reasonable to assume the Galaxy S6 will be better than the iPhone 6 since it is meant to compete with the 6's successor.

I still recommend the crap out of iPhones, but not the 6 or 6+. I recommend the 5S which can be had for half as much as the 6, and should last as long when you consider they both have 64 bits CPUs, the same gig of RAM, and relatively the same power per pixel.

In other words, you find the savings of $100-$150 on the initial price of a device that will be used for 2-4 years (or longer) more compelling than the use of a larger screen, Apple Pay & better cameras over that same period of time?

And this assumes the device is used until it has no value because if you sell the either phone, you will get more for the iPhone 6 which will reduce its cost of ownership.

Samsung is under the gun - so the Galaxy S6 is got to sell well or then loose big to Apple again. I wait to see if they release the S6 in January! It suppose to be all metal chassis. But I just cannot believe the rumors of that early of a launch. I think it will be later on like April/May release myself.

If you continue to wait; you can go through the entire cycle of phone for 2015! LOL! Then you can post here about a year from now; should I wait or buy the iPhone 6S now vs. ???????

I cannot believe how all the banks are jumping on Apple Pay! They sign close to 90% of the top primary banking institutes in the U.S. Apple still has the entire world still to introduce Apple Pay too.

That a major reason that compels me to upgrade my iPhone 5C and get rid of my LG I think I going sell the LG to someone who always wanted one.

No I recommend buying the 5s outright to avoid burning an upgrade. A 5s can be found on swappa for half what a 6 goes for.

In regards to selling it, the 5s has already depreciated so much that they will recoup nearly all their money when they sell it. The 6 has room to fall.

If they really want a big screen iPhone long run I tell them to do just that and "save your upgrade for an iPhone worth using it on (aka a 6S)." When they sell that 5S next year they will recoup almost the entire upgrade price for the 6S+ 64gb.

I honestly never notice the lack of RAM on my 6 Plus. The issue is a much bigger deal, IMO, with tablets where I'd actually have more than 2 tabs open in Safari.

Ugh - people really surf like this on phones? I basically do the same thing on my Note 4 as my computer - I open a half dozen tabs to have all my favorite sites fully loaded and then go through them one by one. Or I browse AT forums and open all the threads that look interesting and then go through them. Easily have a dozen tabs open.

To the OP, the Galaxy S and iPhone are close to exactly 6 months apart. So honestly you're going to have this discussion no matter what time of year it is. It should really come down to whether you prefer iOS or Android.

Just the thought of only using 1-2 tabs in a browser. Part of it is just preference (I like having a lot of tabs) but part of it is my work has pretty bad cell coverage and I like having a ton of sites loading in the background so I don't have to wait.

I'm also uncertain why 2 GB of RAM matters right now with the iPhone.

Right now it doesn't matter.... however, when iOS is updated to future versions the 6 and 6 plus will choke on that operating system with only 1 gig of RAM while a hypothetical 6c and 6c plus with 2 gigs of RAM will run just fine.

Apple is such a profitable company with enough strong-arm influence over it's suppliers (look at the company who went under after trying to provide sapphire glass to them...) that it could have given the current flagship phones 2 gigs of memory without much increase in expense in production.

Early adopters will see their phones go obsolete sooner as a result of only 1 gig of RAM...
It's inexcusable for a flagship phone sold at flagship phone prices imo.

It is preference. I've never been a fan of using many tabs on my smartphones. Not even my Plus. Jumping out to multi tab view is always kinda awkward IMO. I also don't need to load up many sites on my phone. My bookmarks make it easy to jump from one site to the other. My iPad is another story because that's when I usually can relax and open multiple tabs in a browser for reading articles.

I'm not sure this is true whatsover. For multiple tabs in Safari, sure. But the way I use my phone I don't think it's an issue. If and when I multitask (it's not that frequently) it usually consists of listening to music or a podcast while browsing a single tab in Safari or reading Reddit in a dedicated app. I seriously doubt the 1 GB of RAM in my Plus will hold me back from doing so for the next 2 years. The lack of RAM is a bigger issue on my iPad because there are times I do like to load up say 6 tabs at once in my browser.

I must admit I did not upgrade to the iPhone 6 from the 5s, on the principle that the only real difference was .7" screen size and apple pay.

I did buy a Air 2 tho.

Yeah the Air 2 will be like the iPad 2 I think and have a five year life.

I buy all of my iPhones outright now. My plan is too "cheap" to pay for an iPhone subsidy, but that's OK, since the iPhone-compatible plans are so expensive, it makes more sense to buy them outright.

I buy whenever I want to, but we also keep our iPhones for 3-4 years... because my wife gets my hand-me-downs. I bought the 5s, and will likely get a 6s. Although if there is a 6s-mini with 2 GB RAM I'd probably get that instead, since I prefer the smaller screen size.

P.S. My plan offers Android phones, and currently they're offering to give me a S4 or Nexus 5 for free. The only issue is that if I don't take it, I'm month to month with no contract, and if I do take the "free" S4, I have a 2-year contract. Unfortunately, I can't get a discount if I don't take an Android phone. My carrier has stopped giving out those credits on plans like mine, so, either way, my monthly cost will be the same regardless if I take the phone or not.

I may take the S4 (carrier-locked) or N5 (unlocked), but not sure which. I'd just sell it though. Not sure which is worth more on the used market.

Oh shut up, put your iphone 6+ on vibrate, sit on it and call yourself.

Samsung makes one of the best android full featured phones on the planet.

Fair enough, but it's also why I prefer browsers where I can still use normal tabs instead of the semi-stupid multi-tab view that everyone seems to be using these days. The Note 4 with a lower dpi gives plenty of room for a tab row.

No, not at all.

We have NO clue what the S6 will be like. We can make assumptions based on the direction Samsung has been moving, but we have no clue.

Meanwhile we have the iPhone 6, and it has this huge freaking flaw that will get fixed a few months after the S6 hits. Since the S6 should be closer to the iPhone 6S+ launch than from today until the S6 launch it seems like a more fair comparison.

I have been telling EVERYONE in my IRL world who asks about the new iPhone "If you can, wait until next year's models." Many don't, because OMG BIG IPHONE IS EVERYTHING I WANTED IN LIFE, but those who trust my tech judgement are waiting and they will be rewarded with a phone that outlasts the 5S (which the 6 won't).

the best phone would be an HTC one m8 with OIS and an 8-10MP Camera actually
