I don't want the width to increase. I take the bus a lot and usually have one hand hanging onto the bus. If I had a larger screen, I'd need to 2 hands to navigate apps - that's unacceptable to me.

Here is the latest "leaked" concept of iPhone 6.

But more than its close relative, the LG Optimus G, which still managed to fit capacitive buttons in the bottom bezel.

Capacitive buttons are not better, it's entirely subjective depending on who you ask. For example every single time I've handed my Note 2 over to someone to look at something, they never fail to press back or menu. Literally happens every time. That's because those buttons are precisely where you'd put your fingers if you were to hold the phone in landscape.

Maybe some auxiliary functions from the sides? Like swiping out notification or multi-tasking panels. The "wasted" areas don't look that big (assuming both sides), and in any case it won't be the first Apple sacrifice practicality for aesthetics.

I like the look very much. Hope it's durable like iPhone 4/4S so that I can upgrade my parents' phones. (iPhone 5 is a no-no for me thus no for my parents ;) )

The second one is allegedly a "mainstream" version. (what are those 3 ports on one side?)

I love the look of it, but it's still screaming impractical to me! The one thing that I loved was in the video when they were viewing a photograph, it scrolled/unscrolled as they panned it. I thought that was an awesome effect.

Other than that, if I'm watching a video and I need to text someone, I don't want to turn the phone over to text them and then go back to the video on the opposite side regardless if it continues playing or not.

Oh, I didn't watch the video before I posted the above. Now I watched it and yeah I don't believe that's what's going to come out. Front-and-back screen? Unlikely. I was thinking of curved glass tapering off on the side curves. Back could still be glass, but can't imagine having pixels there.

I didn't watch the video either. I was just commenting on the picture at first with the screens draping the sides of the device.

We'll see what happens, but unless they can make it anti-slippery and extremely prone to drops. I really don't see it as a logical idea. Then again, Apple (and Google) released 3 (total) phones that had a near 100% glass body.

I seriously doubt the curved screen sides. That's a complete waste of battery if you aren't going to put it to use. And what would that do for existing apps? Would they "spill over" the sides if they aren't updated? Also you can't make a conventional phone case for a screen like that, and having screen on the sides just increases the probability of the screen taking a hit during a fall.

I think thats just the shell so they could be for the buttons.

There was a leak of a volume board for an iPhone a few weeks ago, where the vibrator switch had been turned in to a push button. The leaked shell for the low-cost iPhone would seem to corroborate that feature.

Apple would never make such a UX disaster. I mean.. look at it! Having a video still running on the back screen while you flip it over to answer a message.. what the hell.

Super LOL.

{Scene: Apple Fanboy Mockup Headquarters}

Apple Fanboy 1: We need to start cranking out iPhone 6 mockups. Its that season again.

Apple Fanboy 2: Well what features should the mockups have? If we put out what we think it will really be- just an iPhone 5 with new guts- we won't get any of the attention we crave.

Apple Fanboy 3: Well everyone nowadays wants a bigger screen. Why not an iPhone 6 with a 5 inch screen?

Apple Fanboy 1: NO YOU IDIOT!!! EVERYONE knows that Apple would never make a phone that cannot be used with one hand. Our bible/////Apple's marketing said so. No, the mockups cannot have a bigger screen.

Apple Fanboy 2: Well, if we can't have a bigger screen....(whimpers)...I know! How about the iPhone 5 screen on on the front AND THE BACK!

Apple Fanboy 1: GENIUS! Then the incredible developers who make iOS apps can just double their apps to fit the screens! That way they spend their time doing important things like making sure each button has the right amount of gloss rather than testing the app at multiple resolutions.

Apple Fanboy 3: Ok, I got this. I just spent an hour on my treadmill so I have some ideas.

I've been using an iPhone since 2008. I've spent way too much time thinking about iPhone screen sizes over the years. I think the following is spot on.

The iPhone 5 is doing very well for Apple. I don't think they have made a mistake. Yet. At the same time I think it's pretty obvious to most of us that a 5" iPhone would be a big seller.

What Apple should do, and what I think they will do, is add a 5" model to go along with the 4" model. There is a strong market for both smartphones in the 4"-4.5" range and the 4.6"-5" range. It appears that there are no rumors to back up the potential of a 5" model in 2013. (Unless Tim Cook's pledge of doubling down on secrecy is really happening.) I think you'll see that 5" iPhone in 2014. (Alongside a 4" model.)

I have an iPhone 5. It's terrific. But I want a phablet. I'd love a 5.5" iPhone. But I don't see it happening anytime soon. I'm probably pre-ordering the Optimus G Pro after the May 1st keynote.

While I don't expect this to happen anytime soon, I'd ideally love to see Apple offer 3 new iPhone each year. (4", 5", 5.5" models.)

If anybody here is frustrated with Apple offering small screens, go Android. S4, HTC One, Xperia Z/ZL, HTC First all look like great choices.

i really dont get why apple isnt coming out with something bigger. a larger screen size is the main reason people but more expensive, high end phones, the type of market apple likes.

Owned every iPhone but the 5. Dumped apple for note 2. Thought it was too big at first, now I think it could be a lil bigger. Won't even consider going back unless the screen in comparable.

I don't get the obsession with big phone screens. It's a damn phone, not a tablet. iPhone has a perfect combination between being a mini computer, phone and camera. And it is certainly more than the sum of its parts unlike the Galaxy S3. I was never an Apple "fanboy" but after getting an iPhone I couldn't find anything like it ever again. I bought a Galaxy SIII because of all the hype around it and I hated it, because it was just too damn big and didn't really excel at anything its trying to do. I couldn't comfortably carry it in my pants pocket because of the size. I felt like an idiot walking around with a huge bulge in my pocket. It was a pain to take it out every time, especially with a cover on. I don't really see the necessity of such a big screen unless you are watching movies. For that, I have an iPad, and the Android crowd has a Nexus 7 or 10. But then again, I never felt crippled watching movies on the iPhone's "small" screen either. Everything is crystal clear and looks good.

I always notice in life, how people who focus on one certain thing and excel in it ultimately do better than "jack of all trades" people. When someone is "kinda good" at many things it only sounds and looks good in theory. In practice those who are "very good" at one certain thing end up "winning".

Who is going to get a higher paying job? A descent programmer who knows 5 languages or a top level super expert who excels in one language? I keep seeing how the latter example is always on top, despite what you might think or want to believe. Who's gonna be better in basketball? A guy who does bodybuilding, hockey, tennis, baseball and basketball or a guy who lives and breathes basketball every day of the week?

Ok, maybe I could have come up with better examples to prove my point, but the iPhone is the phone which "focused".. "Specialized".. Samsung is the phone that is trying to be many things at once. Catch my drift?

@ibex333: I think you are thinking too much.. It's just a phone. Or phones.

And to be frank I don't catch your drift - maybe someone else does and can elaborate. ^^

Some of us just prefer a larger screen since that's how you interact with the device. More room to type, more room to view emails, websites, videos, pictures, everything is better with the bigger screen but obviously some people prefer a smaller device so I'm glad we all have choices here.

Um... the smaller the phone the more it excels at basketball? No, I don't catch your drift. You started out saying it's just a phone.. then devolved into blowing it out of proportion.

Just an aside: I think you're way oversimplifying your examples even. People who are well-rounded, open to many different ideas and willing to learn tend to do better than people that are are narrowly "focused" (read: narrow-minded, biased, set in their ways, etc). So in direct contradiction to what you're saying, it's been my experience that people that are more versatile do better virtually every time. But of course none of this applies to cellphones.
