Americans: Don't forget the "Check Availability" link for in-store pickup when you're shopping on the online Apple Store.

Mind you I did check a few unlocked models and none were in stock in the California shops I checked near 90210. (No I didn't watch the show, but hey, that's the one US zip code I remember. Too much influence from Aaron Spelling I guess.)

In the meantime those of us in Canada continue to wait. No store pickup available.

Both of my phones were delivered today including the gold one. . The gold one is for the wife so I can't sell it. Plus it seems like a big hassle to sell for just couple hundred dollars profit. Now if I had multiple phones, then it might be worth the hassle.

The 5S was in-stock this afternoon at the Apple Store Eaton Centre. Reports are that the 16s sold out very quickly but there were some 32s left, and lots of 64s.

However, only space grey again.

None whatsoever at Fairview Mall in Toronto.

Reports out out now that say many of the smaller and local regional carriers in both Canada and the US are getting an October 1 launch date for the 5S and 5C.

I suspect that means some of the stock was held back for them.

got mine today, not a huge upgrade from my old 5 which work bought for me off contract
- safari noticeably faster
- touch id is nice for unlocking while in the car etc
- have already been on ios7 for 2+ months (developer build) so I guess it takes some of the newness away, the 5 didn't really lag in 7 after beta 2 anyways

b/c i sold the 5 and used my own upgrade for the 5s, my old job bought the 5 off contract as I needed it when we updated our app for the new screen size on the 5. I generally upgrade every year after I sell the old phone, doesn't really cost that much

People are STILL lining up for the iPhone 5S. One of the local Apple Stores got some gold iPhones yesterday, but they were all spoken for before the store opened, because people were waiting in line for gold.

As mentioned, they also got a bunch of greys, but the greys didn't sell out until many hours later.

Played around with the wifeys 5s last night. Snappy as hell but definitely a lot of same ol'. Just can't get excited over it now that it's actually here. Maybe it'll be different when I get mine and get some games or something.

Got some of these cases in from Amazon yesterday:

For $5 they are pretty nice. It's got a soft silicone inner layer and then a harder layer with a somewhat grippy texture to it. Good protective lip around the front of the glass too. Also has easy to use "plugs" over the charger and audio port. Fits the 5s very good. Only question I have is the durability of the bottom lip on the front. It's fairly flimsy and could be prone to tearing/stretching after drug in and out of a pocket a bunch of times.

I decided to live like a sheeple and buy one of Apple's new leather cases. They had one opened in their bin in the back of the store, so I got to hold it a bit before buying it. It has a really nice feel to it being that it's leather, but there are two things I have to complain about.

1) In typical Apple case fashion, the headphone hole is never right. On my iPad's Smart Case, the hole is off center slightly, and on this case, the hole is too small. It fits my Monoprice headphones fine, but my Creative ones won't go in all the way. They still work with them in most of the way, but I don't care for it.

2) The case doesn't wrap around the top of the phone as much as I'm used to. I like it when cases cover the bits that tend to get scratched the most, which includes the chamfered edges. However, you can see the side of the chamfered edges, which creates an interesting looking ring going around the phone.

Although, I do like that the case tries to leave as little of the phone's bare metal visible as possible. For example, the speaker and microphone only have little holes cut out for the holes that exist in the phone's shell. Overall, would I recommend it? Eh, probably not for $40, but I'm kind of a cheap-ass (my last case was free with shipping). I think it's a decent option for $30 though.

There has been decent supply for the 64 GB grey in Toronto. It is the easiest to get.

Small price for me. I use my phone every day for 2+ years, so a decent case that both feels great and is durable is worth the $30-$40. I picked up the Apple leather case for my 5S and really like it. it is very light weight and feels great in my hand.

Not so far. It was hard to get it on. The case is very tight but I've only had it a day.

1. Apple will apparently reinstate Apple Store USA in-store iPhone order pickup on Monday, Sept. 30.

2. Apple Store orders in Canada are starting to ship, with delivery dates starting Oct. 1-2 according to UPS.

3. I still have no change in my order status. It's still listed as "Processing Items" and has been that way since Sept. 20, with a ship date of "October". My order time was only about 5 minutes or so later than the people in #2. Hopefully I will get a shipping notice this coming week.

It was hard to get it on.

Ordered mine when it came out last Friday, received it 2 days ago (Thursday).

I like it so far.

Also ordered an Otterbox case for it yesterday.
