In reality, it is bringing to the table a lot of the features that people have been clamoring for. They were not included in the 1.0 or 2.0 releases for whatever reason, possibly because they take time to make.

A co-worker is a developer and he lent me his development phone for a bit today to play with.
The new search capability is cool - although the single tap on the "home" button taking you to the search menu takes some getting used to. I think I'll use it a lot when I get 3.0 on my phone and get used to the behavior, but I think it's going to take some getting used to.
Cut-n-paste is implemented very cleanly. It works across everything in the phone - you can cut things from anywhere and paste them anywhere else.
Voice memos is simple and easy to use and works well. A nice addition, and something that I've occasionally wanted my iPhone to do, but not a big deal.
And that's about all that I noticed. His phone is one of the original ones, so MMS and bluetooth changes weren't available, and he didn't have a SIM in the phone, so the whole "push" stuff couldn't be tested by us either.
So far it looks ok. Nothing to get jump-up-and-down excited about, but it should solve a lot of peoples "why the heck didn't they include cutnpaste/MMS/A2DP in the phone. It's an iPhone, you think it would be able do these basic things" complaints.

Yeah, good point, gorcorps. There are already enough threads about this... but I played with 3.0 for an hour and this was the thread that caught my eye when I came back to my favorite forum to post my thoughts.
I suppose I could have merged them... or locked this as a duplicate. I often forget that I'm a moderator except when I see spam. Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep it in mind for the future.

Well that's hardly the point, is it? If you decide to jump into a market you need to at least try and have a comparable set of standard features. Sure we got a nice touch screen and accelerometer, but a fair few basics are just not there.
