Pre-ordered from Verizon. only because My iPhone X is starting to glitch and not recognize input touches. Verizon gave me $440.00 toward the purchase since my account shows I'm elligible for an upgrade. IMO if you have anything less than an iPhone 8 the upgrade is worth doing. I bought the 12 Pro.

Been waiting to actually play with one before buying the wife a new phone. Ended up getting her a Galaxy S20+ instead. The iPhone 12 Pro felt thick due to the new (old) design. It did feel solid otherwise. I played with it for a while, I almost think I'd like the max version when it comes out. She just didn't feel like learning a new OS and the Samsung was $500 at Best Buy.

Can't really fault her for that. I'd rather have an iPhone, but $500 for an S20+ is pretty hard to resist if you're already an Android user.

Ooops I meant $500 off, not $500 sorry.

OT, but... Damn Apple. Just watched an MKBHD and IP12 still uses lightning connectors! :confused_old:
This is probably my future phone once it gets knocked down a generation or so :p

What's wrong with Lightning? It's reversible, like USB-C, and doesn't have the issues USB-C cables have with varying standards that can end up frying your phone. Lightning is correctly designed to break without damaging the more expensive device.

Also, it's merely a backup. Everything is wireless these days, including charging, audio, and data backups. The new MagSafe charger may not be included (no charger is included) but is considered the standard charger. Though it is technically wireless the standard MagSafe charger firmly attaches with a wire, essentially replacing Lightning/USB.

Just seems odd to ridicule Lightning when it still has the advantages it has always had and this is the first cycle where Apple started moving away from it. People say we don't expect the next phone to have a charging port at all though I wouldn't doubt that it might get a smart connector like the iPad and Apple Watch.

FWIW, my last iPhone was an iPhone 6S January 2016 so, no, not an Apple fanboy defending his favorite here. I'm still using a Galaxy Note9.

Duh, wasn't thinking about wireless charging - even though I just watched the review with a bunch of info on the MagSafe charger

For what it’s worth, Apple has an extended warranty for input issues on the iPhone X. I’ve had my screen replaced twice for free.

I don't chase iPhones and I can say that I'm happy with my Xiaomi. First of all, I don't understand how you can spend so much money on devices. Some take out a loan in order to get their iPhones. But I admit that iPhones have a better camera and I like the quality of the pictures. My phone can't take such quality pictures. So, I'm not a blogger or a photographer, so I bought a budget phone and am satisfied with its quality for an affordable price. By the way, if you are looking for a case for your phone, I found GadgetGuideIndia, where there are reviews and descriptions of cases for owners of iPhones and Xiaomi.

For anyone confused, "wumao" means 50¢. China used to pay armies of Internet trolls 50¢ per post to try and influence outsiders beyond The Great Firewall.

...and not "used to" because they don't exist anymore. They used to pay 50¢, and now they pay them more.

This is social media guerilla warfare.

If you think this guy signed up just to proudly express his unsolicited opinion about a Chinese cellphone brand, think again.

Here's the kicker: OP is wumao too.

Two posts: This thread inviting the response from another wumao and another post which ignores half of the OPs question about monitor size/resolution. The obligatory response post intended to show some attempt at forum participation before infiltrating with an agenda. Wasn't believable though.

ESL assignments to interact with other English speakers would not involve two accounts. It's definitely wumao activity.

I'm on the fence but probably won't jump this year. If I was in the office, then 5G would be a nice but for now the 11 Pro Max does a good enough job.

I’m sitting on an 8+ with a new battery. Not a fan of face ID and now folks are reporting serious signal loss on the 12...

Wow, really? I like my wife's XR a lot better than my 7. Though, a part of that is the screen size.

I'm an iPhone user but... Was the Galaxy S9 wildly different to use from the S8, S10, or S20? Same with successive LG phones, or Pixels 1 through 5? From my perspective a largely consistent interaction model (ex. Windows 10 is not _that_ different to use compared to Windows 7 if you're in desktop mode) is a good thing, especially for folks who don't upgrade every year.

My iphone X is 3 years old, battery has bulged, but still 88% healthy, so asked work to get a new iPhone 12 mini, wanted a try the smaller form factor while still almost having the same screen size.

Ordered an 12 Pro Max for my wife. Her 8 Plus was only the 64GB version and she is a heavy picture taker. Figured since she is going into work every day, might as well get it for her this year.

So far really enjoying the 12mini, does seem small when I actually use it as a phone, pretty sure this feeling will go away once I'm used to it, but form factor in my pocket can't be beat.

It's insanely fast. Big shame that it does not support 120 Hz display. It makes such a huge difference. I am sure it is part of planned obsolescence when the next models are out sporting it.
