Pretty sure they were following the CDC guidelines, which were changed after it became obvious it was dumb.

Opening colleges without widespread rapid testing is pure stupidity, though.

Regardless. Why would you place Covid infected people in a home with the most vulnerable people to Covid.

That is stupid in spades.

It was stupid, and they stopped doing it, after learning just how stupid. Now how come most of the southern states don't require masks in public? That has gone past ignorance, stupidity, to willful disregard for public health.

What happened in the north east was ignorance, what's happening now is stupidity.

Before you said it was just ignorance. And now you say it was stupid.

Most of the Southern States do require masks. I see 12 that do and 4 that have just partial requirements.

The only US State I see that doesn't have any requirements at all is North Dakota.

Most everywhere I go they have mask requirements when inside where you cannot social distance.
I also find that most people I see in business' have a mask on. Very few don't.

I always wear one when out around anyone, me a stupid Southerner. Amazing right?

Guess what? I didn't even need to be told to do it!

How cool is that?

Who said it wasn't? I live in rural western MA, there's stupid people out here too. Guess what though, southern states had months of leeway to form a game plan, and for the most part that didn't happen. The federal leadership during this pandemic has been horrible, riddled with lies, willfull ignorance, science doubters, "blame the Dem's", putting states in the position to fight with each other over basic medical supplies, and completely politicizing a pandemic. I'd say it's shameful, but R's have no shame.

I know it isn't. That is my point with Zorba in reference to his claim that placing Covid patients into nursing care facilities was ignorance. When I called him out that it wasn't ignorance. He then claimed it was stupid.

Let me help as you can't follow along.

Follow along:

You've also gotten widespread useage of plasma. But from what I've read, the different oxygen techniques have made a big difference in the hospitals. Which is why we stopped hearing as much about ventilators.

Further, there is quite a bit of evidence that there were many more missed cases early in the pandemic that made the death rates look a lot worse.

What happened in the north east was ignorance, what's happening now is stupidity.
So placing sick people back into Nursing Care facilities was ignorant, but not stupid?

how is it that you found some website that no one has ever heard of before and hasn't been updated since april!?! you had to go looking to find such outdated information. how many updated sites did you have to scroll by in the google results to find that turd?

It's amazing how well search engines can cater information to a person based on what they do online. IMO, this is willful ignorance AND a good dose of marketing getting you exactly what they think you want. @Greenman has repeatedly shown how really partial he is, but claims not to be. The proof is in the pudding, so to speak. If Greenman is really as clueless as he presents himself here, I can't imagine he dug thru all the possible links to current data to find this gem from 5 months ago, then posting it here thinking people would not click on it, and READ it, but instead just take is word for it.

OP:

5 of the top 10 states with highest deaths/100k people have Democrats as governors. Is your vitriol extended to them as well?

Meanwhile NY/NJ are enjoying their 1% positivity rate and single digit deaths per day despite being the highest population density in the country.

Really there is no excuse for a mass outbreak half a year into the pandemic other than foolishness.

They have all the medical knowledge, easily available PPE and lessons learned from all over the country.

Good job getting run over by the steam roller in broad daylight.

The nursing home issue was NY following published guidelines, once they realized it was stupid they changed. This is basically the same as saying they were ignorant, because once educated they corrected the issue. This also was not the only thing driving transmission and deaths from ignorance. They were also running out of hospital space and were forced to make less than desirable decisions.

States refusing to issue mask and social distancing requirements right now is either pure stupidity or willfully and knowingly harming public health.

There is a huge difference between 5 months ago and today.

CNN today, not some iOwa sourced news outlet but CNN:
Task force report shows dire warnings to Iowa, the state with the highest case rate this week
The report says that Iowa is in the task force-defined "red zone" and warns that the state has the highest rate of cases in the US, which increased by 77.4% from the previous week.
Link? CNN

So, how many iOwans does it take to screw in a casket? Only one, Republican governor Kim Reynolds.
My ONLY hope is that one day all of these so called "governors" be brought to justice accused of mass murder, then hanged. Just like was done with the plot to kill Lincoln. They were all hanged.

Sure. Left to governors and mayors after Trump abandoned his post to go golfing.

Dunno why I'm paying so much in Federal taxes when they can't be bothered to do their jobs. CDC, FEMA, OSHA, HHS, DHS... No no, it's fine, let the states do it all, we're too busy fighting the Deep State...

Send all my tax money back to my state instead of out of state to subsidize the opiod addicts in Trumplandia.

It's called states rights dumbass. The same reason if Biden is elected he can't do what his ads say... Initiate a nationwide mask order. It would trample on states rights.

Trumps admin abandoned post, refused to assist the response by states which he doesn't care for. His plays were obvious and partisan. Surely this is something that an objective person like yourself can admit

Trump flogged them & the maskless morons in the direction he wanted them to go. They don't want Trump sending his followers to liberate them.
Got to get that Iowa beef to China. Keep the packing plants running! No unemployment for you if you choose not to go to work. Yea, that has nothing to do with what's going on in Iowa.

It's the positivity rates that are alarming. Like, way alarming.

"Johnson County, home to the University of Iowa in Iowa City, reported 247 new cases Friday, its second highest 24-hour total behind Thursday’s 338. Friday’s positivity rate was 55.5 percent, an increase from Thursday’s 47.6 percent.
Johnson County’s seven-day rolling average for positive cases is at a record 146.
Story County, home of Iowa State University in Ames, on Friday reported a record 239 cases, with 65.48 percent of tests coming back positive.
Polk County reported 664 new cases, bringing the total number of cases in Iowa’s most populous county to 12,885.
Linn County reported 43 new cases and one death, bringing the county’s death toll to 93. The positivity rate for tests in Linn County was 38.05 percent."

47% positive.
FOURTY SEVEN PERCENT

1 in 2 people tested were positive. That's not good.

They are comically under testing right now.

You know the Cyclones won't let the Hawkeyes beat them if they can help it, it's a fierce rivalry. I predict an increase in Story county ASAP.

There are packing plants all over the country, including here in CO. That doesn't account for the situation in Iowa or the Dakotas.
