An email went out from the director of IT (corp. VP level dude) telling us we are forbidden to update to iOS7 until his teams have ample opportunity to test it on our networks. This is gonna take weeks so y'all have fun and post lots of pics and anecdotes about how it goes for you (especially those of you still sporting 4Ss).

IT fail. should have tested it out when the betas were released.

When about should the update be available? I want to try it out! 🙂

I'm getting apps updating to iOS7 very quickly coming in. Good on those devs.

Yeah, I'm getting a ridiculous amount of app updates, which I guess is a good thing! I think I've updated about three times tonight already, and I've had from 3-12 updates! 😱

Yes, same here. The vast majority of our devices are iOS and brought our Exchange to a screeching halt, back in 6.1.x(?).

This guy's review of iOS 7 is over 15000 words.

Still working my way through it. Overall he loves it, but points out some very significant bugs, or design problems.

For example, the choice to move to text-as-buttons works fine for English when the designers speak English, but when you switch to another language, it can wreak havoc.

iOS 6 Mail toolbar:

The Thai text shrinks to fit the buttons.

iOS 7 Mail toolbar:

Both iOS 6 and iOS 7 allow text for such interface elements, but iOS 7 has eliminated dynamic text sizing, and this is what happens.

OTOH, for Mail in Mac OS X, it's just symbols on the buttons, which most people understand, regardless of language:

That was my biggest pet peeve. I get that Apple and people hate skeumorphism, but damn, keep the buttons! It's a usability issue, not just visual.

I'm updating to iOS7 for the features, but the text as buttons is a big fail. Another fail is that they went with thin text on translucency. Visibility goes way out the window. Contrast is extremely low and anyone that has an eyesight problem will find iOS7 hard to see.

Removing a visible "button" is one of my biggest offs about iOS 7 as well. Redesign them or something but it basically looks like someone just threw text up in a bar with no regard for how it looks. At least with a button it can keep things defined and uniform.

OTA updates for iOS 7 too are available. Getting hammered though.

However, iTunes 11.1 is not out yet, curiously, which is a problem since you need iTunes 11.1 if you want to sync your iOS 7 device.

Interestingly, the Gold Master for iOS 7.0 for most of the devices is actually 11A470a NOT 11A465. Those of you on the "Gold Master" already probably are on a slightly older version, which what the 5C and 5S shipped with.

Also, iOS 7.0.1 is out for the 5C and 5S. It is 11A466.

I think the servers are getting a giant stroke 😛 My iPad2 says 2 hours estimated... for 655MB @ 12Mbps? I think not 😉 Was going fast and suddenly it's very slow and stuck at around 15%...

Installed it, and it seems nice except Safari. My recent searches don't show up like they used to, and it is WAY TOO WHITE. The brightness of the browser detracts from the page you are viewing. I'm installing Chrome now to see how I like it.

Just put it on my iPhone 4 and it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

A little bit of animation lag when returning to the home screen, when the apps fade into place. Also a little hesitation when opening spotlight. Apps maybe take 1 more second to open up.

Going to play around with it and see how the battery life is.
