Yeah... I can remember how much iOS 4 screwed up my old iPhone 3G a few years ago. It made me angry enough to replace it with an Android phone.

If I was one of those tinfoil hat conspiracy theory types, I would think that Apple WANTS your old phone to run slowly in order to convince you to get a new one.

I'm not going to lie, that same thought went through my head when I upgraded my iPod Touch to whatever the last 4.x update was. Completely killed the battery and then Apple announced there would be no more updates. I'm sure it wasn't intentional but still ....

Putting iOS 5 on my original iPad and the crashfest that resulted in that was what prompted me into getting an iPad3 on release day.

You couldn't put Newsstand in a folder in iOS 5 either.

In truth though, that took a very specific and unsanctioned series of actions to make that happen, and it caused glitches. But yeah, otherwise you couldn't do it in iOS 5 either. I just thought that's an irritating choice on Apple's part, since I don't use the app at all.

I don't really like the status bar color changes. I'd prefer that it stayed a static color, like iOS 5.

Also dislike Apple Maps. Annoying that it doesn't integrate with Google (ex. search for business name in Safari and get an address for Google Maps -> tap it -> goes to GM web app instead of opening Maps application).

Are the new Apple maps really slow for anyone else? It can take up to a full minute to load a map sometimes. Glad I use the Garmin app :awe:

Yeah, I noticed that today for the first time, and it is annoying. I can only assume it relates to the Apple-Google turf war, but I would hope Apple can find some way to correct it, at least within Safari. I used Apple Maps today for the first time and actually thought it worked fairly well with the exception of this issue.

The "move it into a folder while it is being created" trick worked for me when iOS 5 first came out, but I haven't been able to do it successfully since iOS 5.1.1.

A minute? No mine always opens in a second. What device are you using?

5, mostly on LTE (with like 2 bars lol). But even on Wi-fi it kinda chugs along.

Oh I misread you first post. I thought you said it took a minute to load the map app. The slowest time I had with it was loading 3d w/ satellite. It's slow with 3G and crappy reception. Over wifi it's always ready in 3-4 seconds. When I'm not on wifi I usually turn satellite off since its not really adding any useful information and it takes more data.

I've got a boo that maybe you folk can turn into nothing:

On Safari (and iOS 6 in general) we are have problems with pop-out window text boxes. My wife and I are looking for a house and we've been using Listingbook on the iPad, it worked fine in iOS 5.1 but after the upgrade we cannot log in. When you log in it pops out a username and password box but but after entering our info nothing happens, it just sits there. The same page works on her iPhone 5 sometimes. I've tried it with Safari and Dolphin, it works every once in a while with Dolphin but not usually.

Any ideas??

Huh, interesting. That's clever, but I wonder if at that same version you can sneak one folder into another since Newsstand is basically a folder.

Boo: alarm snooze button still missing when you have notifications present - you still can't snooze an alarm if you have pending notifications, you can only unlock the phone which turns off the alarm completely.

You can hit the tiny snooze button next to the alarm notification when other notifications are present. That or I am just imagining things that happen when I'm half awake.

Also, you can hit the lock button to snooze.

I haven't had many problems with the accuracy of the new maps but the search function in it sucks balls, today I was trying to look up a restaurant and it couldn't find it by name. Instead I had to search by the category and then it came up with the exact same name I was searching with before, what kind of crap is that.

Ah ok, good to know, thanks. That tiny snooze button is too hard to push while half asleep but I can use the lock button anyways.

It is really hard to push. I just wanted to make sure I hadn't imagined it was there or something. Im not with it when I'm half awake.

I don't see the maps hate. I have seen the page of shortcomings but have not experienced anything personally. It is still better than the previous maps app but not as good as androids. Having turn by turn makes it worth it.

I see the maps hate after using it for a week. It looks nice but so many addresses are just flat out wrong. I live in a heavily populated area too, right outside of chicago, and it has a lot of restaurants/bars etc in the wrong place. Even if you grab the address and put it in it puts it in the wrong place, sometimes across the street, sometimes like a mile or two down the road. Also, the turn by turn doesn't give enough audio queues, for example it ignores forks in the roads whereas google nav will tell you to stay to the left or the right.

Edit: I just wanted to add that this won't bother me if they fix stuff quickly, I understand they probably have floods of new reported problems from the maps right now but we'll have to see how they handle stuff int he future. Right now Apple's maps is basically useless to me since I have to cross reference it with google because it can't be trusted.

When you see more than 18x the amount of details (regarding street names, markings, etc...) on Google Maps and you see like... 2 or 3 streets right where you are standing, something is inherently... wrong.

Funny though, because I see that while I'm standing in Cupertino. Even the home base doesn't have a "clear" map.

I live in Cupertino and I think the map is fine. Mind posting a screenshot to show what you're looking at?

I guess that is a problem. I only ever used Google maps for directions and checking traffic and for that I have had zero problems with that so far.
