Depends on what the event was. In Pepsei's example, it's not an invite. If he was talking about a party at his house, then it's obviously an invite.

EDIT: Of course if Event X is not being put on by Person A. Which would make him a bigger douchebag anyways.

Obviously the event matters. If it's my friend telling me his sister is getting married this weekend, I'm not assuming I'm invited, even if he does go to the trouble to send me info. If it's some random party, I would assume the mention plus sending information constituted an invite.

Person A is a douche either way though.
