Interviews why are Democrats held to a higher standard?

Because of a relentless commitment to #bothsides. The media can and does criticize Trump for his criminality, his sociopathy, and his dishonesty. The thing is, now that the media has criticized Trump for being a felon in order to remain 'balanced' it has to find something to criticize Harris about. Since she's not a criminal they can't do that so they find other things like not giving enough interviews.

The only goal here is to maintain the fiction that both parties are relatively similar, just with policy disagreements. If you admit one is attempting a fascist coup then you're no longer 'objective'.

To me it’s pretty easy:
Donald in 2015 you said you’d release your taxes
Him garbled bullshit about audits
Donald in 2015 you said you’d release your taxes
Him garbled bullshit about it being illegal
Donald in 2015 you said you’d release your taxes

That would literally be the entire interview.

He is also the king of double speaking. Even in his E Jean Carroll deposition he said grabbing woman by the genitals because he is a celebrity is good and bad

When asked if he would order the FDA to remove Mifepristone check out the quote and ask yourself. Did he answer?
“Sure, you could, you could do things that will be, would, would supplement,” the GOP presidential nominee said. “Absolutely. … But you have to be able to have a vote, and all I want to do is give everybody a vote.”

Drugs being out in or taken off the market are not subject to vote. The FDA director and high level scientists decide. Unless the FDA director is Trump stooge then he does the White House bidding or gets fired.

Remember P2025 wants to fire civil servants, reclassify them to report directly to the White House. Trump would hire based on loyalty to him.

It's sorta two fold..

1. Newt Gingrinch started the media is biased against the right and doesn't treat us fair.. gives dems soft coverage..

So they started being soft on the right and hammered Bill for getting a blowjob.

2. Then Obama jumped through the hoops to show everyone how he was able to do that to make the right look stupid.. and..

they raised the standards on dems and totally removed any standards from the maga conservaterrorists.

In response to Harris saying she’s be willing to have a republican serve in her cabinet. Apparently Vance said we have RFK Jr and Tulsi Gabbard.

🤣🤣🤣 Lol so they’ll announce Simchin soon

Watching Joy Ried on MSNBC and they are discussing this very subject. One thing Joy pointed out is most of the questions were setups for Trump's arguments. It's just pathetic.

As I said you have one candidate acting and talking like a dictator and another being a normal candidate.
They choose to be tough on the normal candidate.
From what I’ve read it wasn’t a bad interview, I am disappointed about how it went down. Even the constant “Kamala should give more interviews” thing is irritating when the dictator wanna be only goes to friendly personalities or is never pressed about what he has said.

At this stage ... "Interviewing" Trump at all legitimizes him as a candidate. He just lies and says crazy shit during “interviews”. They constantly give Trump a pass for all the batshit stuff he says. The press has a duty to serve the public good, and platforming fascists who want to turn this country into a Christian theo-ethnostate is betraying that duty. Considering what todays Republican party has become, any news organization that treats them like just another political party is not doing its job.

A couple classic NY Times opinion pieces ;

This whole capitalist media system has run amock. It's clearly complicit in end game capitalism and was never going to do the right thing.
True enough. We are witnessing it live, right now, having both created and fostered the monster on us before... is replete with the idea that it should do this again. After what we know now. After January 6th. They are complicit.

So even the notion of a free press and what it represents to a Democracy. Our necessity for it. This has all failed us. Freedom alone is not enough. And from that truth, the answer for what we must do next.

I've had arguments with this with my family repeatedly since 2015 or so, they see Fox as evil and everyone else as 'normal news', then they see the transition NYT has gone through over the last few months as this sad downward slide of some great institution, and I try to keep telling them that there may have been a time when they were some noble group but it's long been past. Every news agency except NPR is really just a moneymaking operation, nothing but argument back from them.

Bananas.

Aren't we full of pride over out outrage? Isn't that fuel for the beast?
Words I would have, and figuratively did speak in 2017. That time has past.
Republicans had their chance to make peace. To abandon madness for reason. To want Democracy.
In response they called our Democracy, our elections fake. They spit on it and energize their base for terrorism. Jan 6th was just a whispered, enfeebled, attempt for what they will do next.

A "free press" takes Trump campaigning on the graves of the fallen.... and completely endorses it. Hell, they scream and rage "how dare you" back at us. For daring to question it.

@Moonbeam it is over. We are beyond words with them. This is no longer campaigning. This is no longer about elections, least... not beyond having a thin veneer of legitimacy when it is time to act.

The Media makes Trump.
It is time to unmake the media. They do not serve the public interest.

Gold Star families slam Kamala Harris for 'playing politics' over Trump's visit to Arlington National Cemetery

Ah this discussion reminds me to pick up both an "NPR" and "Science!" t-shirt from teepublic.

On one hand, that's pretty tame compared to getting a Kamala or Ballz to the Walz tshirt. On the other, I stand a better chance of not getting shot by a redneck "standing his ground." I'm in FL after all.

Probably you are worried there are enough sick people to put him back in office.

Yea, but if one is really attempting a fascist coup(and I cant really deny it), isn't it the urgent job of the news media to point that out?

It is Fox, what do you expect. This is the first I have seen of Harris being criticized. I have seen several articles critical of Trump on this issue.

Reminds me of all the Big Fat Liberals I've known who will (not without reason) disparage the Daily Mail, yet pay money for the (almost as right-wing, just sneakier about it) Observer.

Even The Guardian has always been somewhat right-wing (my parents wouldn't have it in the house, for that reason). In fairness, being consciously 'liberal' it tends to make a value of presenting different points-of-view, and thus is one of the only parts of the UK print media that occasionally carries actual leftist voices (it also sometimes carries very right-wing commentators, for the same reason). But it's noticeable that it seems to go through periods where it purges its leftist contributors, and then gradually reacquires some again.

WHY are Democrats held to higher standards than the Republicans?

Because MOST Democrats actually HAVE standards...

FFS, we're SUPPOSED TO BE BETTER than the Republicans...

The DNC needs to make it plain...We've upped our standards...so UP YOURS!

Yes. It should have been the entire interview, and then every story should have been hammering home that he refuses to be a normal candidate, continually rambles like a raving, demented lunatic, and lies about everything.

Instead, we get footnotes of stories and reporters "interpreting" his rants for policy positions that sound nice.
