Dial-up, AOL, and Internet Explorer, in that order.

Dial-up is still used and so is IE... IE isn't that bad either... o_O I don't think Firefox is a permanent replacement...

I only use IE on sites where people can't code properly.

(Admittedly, I don't recognize the True and Chaotic Neutral logos.)

Edit: Found a useful guide.
Never heard of "Flock" before.

The other one is Safari

LOL I had to use this recently. :p But yeah glad it's not the norm of every day IT operations.

Well only a few. atd atz atdt

atdt is lot of fun. I kept calling my coworker's extension over and over and it was dead silence when he picked up. He was like "wtf?" Yes I can do that with a phone but it's less obvious if I'm just typing away at a keyboard. But yeah we have an old pager system that is managed through a modem.

Obtaining a password to a FTP by visiting an through a refferal link and counting for the 5th word in the 3th paragraph of the page for the password. And for most practical reasons, websites using frames.

This, and mad animated GIFs. Don't forget the 100x100 animated ones used as tiled backgrounds!

Ok, so when I first learned html, I thought all of those things were cool. My college teacher also thought those things were cool. I totally almost failed that class for usage of excessive css, clean layouts, lack of frames, etc.

The only frames I don't mind are iframes, but please kill that border and don't overdo it!

One thing I do miss is warez ftps though. Don't think they're that common these days as lawyers destroy those like a pack of wolves spotting an injured zebra. Back in the day I used to be a member at a warez forum and we all had our own FTPs which we shared. Good times. Got shut down like 5 times then we pretty much lost track of each other. I always said we needed to keep tabs with each other outside the forum but it never really happened.

Those CD's full of shareware. I wasted so much time browsing through and messing with every single app on some of those shareware app and shareware game compilation CD's.

Wish I had put that time towards a skill that would be useful today.

My cousin just had me clean the crap out of her computer again. She still uses AOL with a dialup modem, and the AOL software still installs the one and only RealPlayer :(

If you think private trackers are no better than public, ignorance must be bliss.

Geocities with insane numbers of animated gifs.

Or the ones with dark black and blue tiled image backgrounds with light blue and yellow text.

Amen! I remember in the 90s when every page was either geocities, tripod, or angelfire was had neon green text.

Having a huge download ruined because after it finished Microsoft Windows Explorer popped up a file-copy progress dialog to copy from whatever temp folder to your destination folder, stealing focus from your Instant Message/Word Processor/whatever and canceling when you type space... OH WAIT.

I hate Microsoft. Heads should roll considering that this same shit still goes on in the latest version. There really is no excuse. Apple wouldn't tolerate that crap on OS-X.

Posting "me too" like some brain-dead AOL-er is obsolete because they are now on non-AOL broadband clogging up news, blog, and YouTube comments sections and turning them into useless wastelands of "LOL!", "o haha made me laff," and "omg how u do that man that is totaly awsom???" comments. Web 2.0 = WORSE THAN EVER.
