Met this girl in IRC ... chatted a little while ... met face to face (she was in a different city) ... kept in touch for a while ... she moved to my place ... been together ever since (2+ years) ... 😉

I have friends for whom Internet encounters blossomed into thriving real-life relationships. I also have friends who have been very badly hurt financially, emotionally, and in one case physically, as a result of online entanglements.

Obviously, there are some real success stories. But there are quite a few horror stories, too, so I would urge everyone to use caution (particularly the youngsters.)
