facebook is different. you can actually enable it so no one can search for you by name. also, you can make it so it's private and only people you have approved of can see what you post or pictures you might put up.Millions of people on facebook use their own name. What makes forums different? Other than trying to be a total jackass to people under the veil of anomnimity...which is actually an illusion because a Moderator can and will track you down if needed.

I'm easy to track down. If someone was inclined, they could almost track my complete online career, and much of my offline. I purposely do that for accountability. Keeps honest people honest ;^)

I really don't think that it's a "wrong forum" kinda thing. As it's more of a discussion of online forum practices rather than gaming.
And I don't say that because I started the thread. If anyone else had started it in OT I'd leave it be too.

Hmm....nothing shows up for me.
The only emoticons I see are the ones for "Post Icons".
