also should i maybe change the cpu to a dual core more ram maybe?
thanks for all the input

Well for one you would be better off imho with a NEC 3540A for your burner. And possibly another drive for the regular dvd drive. But a lot of that comes from me not liking sony, but in all seriousness the nec burner is one of the best if not the best out there. the older version won anands comparison.

If you are buying the parts individualy, if you are going with a website system builder and you can only get what is listed then it all sounds good.

If you're sure you really want to go the Intel route, I'd say that's a nice intel setup. Dual core isn't much more expensive if you really want to plop the money down for it.
I know there's going to be someone who's gong to say it, so I will....you can save some money if you go the AMD route. (Just keping things open minded)

ok i ordered the system and changed the burner to the nec(thanks for the suggestion) also added a logitech keyboard and some other small thigns i needed, was also thinking about sli but since i dont game alot got this all for $1195 shipped i think its a pretty sweet setup also waitng for a good price on a dell 19" 1905 lcd

Yeah, I'd agree with going with the NEC dvd burner over the sony. The only other thing I would change is the PSU, I wouldn't really trust the generic PSU that comes with the case, you would be much safer getting a good name brand PSU. I just got a leadtek 6600GT, good card, it runs cool and quiet and overclocks nicely too.

1GB of RAM should be plenty.

The 6600GT is a GREAT card for the price.

64-bit is the way to go - regardless of weather you get AMD or INTEL.

Since gaming isn't your main concern, Intel is a good choice.

The wattage rating on the PSU isn't what really matters, it's the amperage ratings on the individual rails (12V, 5V, 3.3V) on the PSU. I've seen "420W" PSUs with worse or equal ratings than 380W PSUs (Thermaltake 420W Silent PurePower, Antec True380S). Is this the case? (It may be a different color) If so, the ratings on the PSU don't look bad at all. I'd give it a shot and see if you have any problems with it. If you have any random lockups, crashing, etc the first thing I'd finger is heat, then the PSU. Good PSU brands are Antec, Enermax, Fortron, Sparkle, and a few others. If you do buy a new PSU, you should get a 24-pin unit.

20a on the 12v rail isn't bad. 18a or less on a 420w is pretty weakfor the 12v rail. My 350w enermax on the other hand has 26a on the 12v rail.

get a real PSU not something that runs off neon lights. the xclio 450watt would be a good buy for you. and what are you using the system for?

i'd say go with the 550, its faster and the same price. it may not be 64 bit, but intel in a 64 bit environment are slower.

why the 955 chipset it has almost nothign better than 945 which is a little cheaper from what i read the nec burner is one of the best and the ram cannt be beat for the price

Rain/Snow--Intel
Hot/Sunny--AMD

I'm worried to hell about your PSU. I have a feeling you'll report back to us saying that the machine doesn't work/you smelled a burning smell/no POST/random crashes/instability/parts got FRIED.

Get the 640, and not the 550 as others have said. The 5xx series has SERIOUS heat/power issues.

i already got the 640 jsut seems like a much better pick over the 5xx, thanks for the words of encouragment also i havent seen any negative comments about the psu on newegg and it does have good specs could you elabrate more as too why its a problem and maybe suggest a better one in the sub $50 range
thanks

xclio 450 watt....and you will never see anything negative in newegg. the psu is a generic POS(the simple explanation).

I'll second that. I had a generic power supply that started whistling loudly. I replaced it with a 350w Enermax that's still running fine, even after some silencing mods. I also have an Enermax Whisper 475w, quiet and efficent. I've also had good luck with Sparkle.

I know of one that's $55. Antec SmartPower 2.0 400W. And yeah, newegg reviews are filtered and they take out the negative reviews.

That is simply not true, the 500 series are not faster in any bench I've ever run them in. I have a 571 3.8es, a 650 3.4es, and a 660 3.6es. The 571 and the 660 will both do 4.45ghz and running the same benches the 660 outscores the 571 by a significant amount. The 2mb cache does wonders:thumbsup:
