I cant imagine advertised 11% sc gain against 7700K with lower than leaked clockspeeds. I see like 3.8/4.7/4.3 on that picture. Ofc my vision is compromised with ME WANT syndrome.

The increase from 4.5GHz -> 4.7GHz should give about 5% of that gain. The larger shared L3 cache (12MB vs 8MB) should give the rest.

The whole HEDT platform is itself a niche.

Kaby X is Frankenstein joke on that platform. It doesn't really offer anything worth the extra price you have to pay for HEDT MB over just getting a 7700K with a standard desktop MB that costs much less.

There's going to be more models in January. The desktop T models could be 4C8T.

I do expect that Core i3 for sure will be 35W TDP 4C/4T. But 4C/8T? Core i5 or Core i7?

If Core i5 then 100% would have Turbo and would be viable for me, depending on its price and clock speed.

Kabylake X is a nice chip to play with; benching, gaming, overclocking (ram, uncore, and cores). Would love to have get my paws on one.

Well, one of the sources seems to be wrong.

Not necessarily, they might have changed Coffee Lake clock speeds before launch. Core i5-8600K's 1-core Turbo appears to be 4.4 GHz now, up from the 4.3 GHz I mentioned. That remains to be seen in benchmark submissions/entries though.

I only wait for 35W TDP CPUs. Do you think that we will also see 4C/8T CPUs? Because the numbers of the CPUs suggest that whole lineup will be just 4C/4T, 6C/6T and 6C/12T SKUs.

Also would be interesting to see 35W TDP 6C/12T CPU.

There are 35W 4-core and 35W 6-core SKUs in the works, should be available in early 2018.

Edit: I'm saving the results just in case they remove it. 52-60% better MT performance in synthetics and they still managed to boost ST by close to 10% compared to the venerable Core i7-7700K. Probably the combination of 4.4% higher 1-core Turbo + 12 MB L3 + uncore boost. This thing will fly off the shelves.

It's not a bad CPU, it's just not going to be popular because it requires a pricier X299 board over a Z270 board. But if you want the world's fastest quad-core CPU, then the 7740X is your guy, as it's slightly faster/has more OC capability than the 7700K.

I haven't really seen evidence that OC better than 7700K, it seems everyone and their dog could get their 7700K to 5GHz. How fast does the average 7740x run?

I've seen evidence that the 7740X is binned better, its stock turbo bins are higher than the 7700K.
