Intel Skylake / Kaby Lake

You need a 110 that has ram o/c though because it might be standard ram speed for the chip but the non-oc mobos are only made for 2133,asrock supports ram oc and I guess others do too.
 
Not made for 2400? It's just a Bios restriction. I would be surprised if these boards can't do DDR4-2400 with a KBL Bios. And there is no RAM OC on these boards and there is no OC required, DDR4-2400 is default for Kabylake.
 
There is no OC required because Kabylake supports DDR4-2400 out of the box. And to make this happen it just requires Bios support, nothing special in it. It always worked that way.
 
Just to clarify, ASRock's "Non-Z DDR4 OC", is just a selective reduction in the latency timings for certain known kits of DDR4. It does not alter the base freq. of the DRAM. For non-Z boards, that's still 2133 for SKL, and 2400 for KBL.

Per core performance prevails here, Pentium G4560 would easily outclass any FX CPU and almost match i7-2600K.

Are you surprised that a CPU architecture over 5 years old is outperformed by CPU's released a few weeks ago? (I'm referring to the G4560 you mentioned). I think you should give it a break, instead of harping on about crappy FX performance that everyone knows about. Do you get fun from constantly repeating the same information for every new game that gets benchmarked?

We know the FX CPU's are old and pathetic. We know their architecture is poorly designed.

Ryzen comes soon, hope you're looking forward to more competitive results in these benchmarks, th rest of us sure are 🙂

A budget 3.5GHz 2C/4T outperforming a 4.7-5.0GHz 4M/8C (220W) monster in 2017 games. It shows per core performance remains very important for some (not all) titles, otherwise it would be an easy win for that particular FX (faster in MT applications). And FYI, Skylake architecture launched less than 3 years after Piledriver.

You are the one who explicitly mentioned the G4560. Here, I'll refresh your memory:

The G4560 is a Kabylake part, released a few weeks ago. I'm not talking about Skylake, so don't move goalposts and try avoid the subject. I'm talking about the G4560 Kabylake part that you compared the FX CPU's to. Here, I'll even link and illlustrate the Intel Ark for you:

Note the red box, this shows the release date of the G4560 that you explicitly compared the 2011 FX architecture CPU to. Note that it was released this quarter, making it a member of Intel's latest and greatest next generation Kabylake architecture.

Everyone knows that Intel CPU's are vastly superior. That's why AMD were in such a bad position over the last few years - their CPU's have not been selling well. We know this.

Why do you feel the need to constantly write about the Bulldozer/Piledriver architecture? Every time a new game comes out, you see it as your duty to mock or make fun of these CPU's. Even small children have enough IQ to read graphs and see how bad the FX CPU's are.

Wait a few weeks for Ryzen, then go compare 🙂

Pentium G4560 is a lower-clocked Core i3-6100 as far as CPU performance goes, and it's based on 2015 Skylake cores. Initial Piledriver based CPUs launched in late october 2012, while FX-9590 is mid-2013, so not 'over 5 years' apart.

Are you aware that 2015/2016 Carrizo/Bristol Ridge APUs and discounted FXs are currently competing against Celeron, Pentium and Core i3 based on the latest and greatest 14nm+ Kaby Lake? GameGPU and other websites include them in their charts for a reason - the people that still own and buy these chips (see Amazon.com's best sellers) want to know how they compare, whether it's worth upgrading, etc.

There are titles where Vishera shines and actually matches/beats a modern (and usually more expensive) Core i5. Already explained it above, it baffles me that some 2017 titles still favor per core performance in a way that a fast 2C/4T can be the superior solution. Read it as: there's still life in these small budget duallies, instead of 'mocking the competition'. I usually compare the Haswell/Skylake Core i3 to Core i5-2500K/i7-2600K as well.

No thanks, we should compare the new budget king Pentium to similarly priced competitors - and Raven Ridge is still months away. I'm all in for Ryzen vs Core i5/i7 though.

It's a Kabylake CPU. Kabylake is 7th generation, Skylake is 6th generation. Kabylake = Q1 2017, Skylake = Q3 2015. Once you grasp these facts, I'll then bother replying further to you.

That doesnt change the fact that one CPU is based on Bulldozer from 2011 and the other is based on Skylake from 2015 😉

ps. Not to mention there is no G4560 in the above diagrams.
 
Looking at the first three games the FX CPUs are broadly comparable to their Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge equivalents which is the era the AMD chips are from.

Also,Conan is getting very poor reviews as it is a buggy early access game.
 
Yeah, just got one 7700K on what i call easy 5Ghz @1.3V ... Could not do anything close with 6700K's i touched, easy 10% extra clock headroom in Kaby. Ironically it is more than previuos architectures gave us in IPC increases. And way more consistent perf increase due to coming from clock, not some architecture voodoo.

I did not have good luck with 6700K overclocks in general. 7700K on good cooling have been awesome for me.
