I have lost 8 drives on this platform and would like to know if fed a constant 5.2GHz would contribute to the acceleration of the chipset failure.

All of my 3 Gb/s ports are just about inoperable but the 6 Gb/s ports still function. Wish I could get someone from Intel to verify that the high overclocks I am using contributed to the failures of the hdd's.

Raising the voltage on the chipsets would make them fail the fastest.
 
Conversely lowering them then...?

Also, not running 24x7 might be indicated?

I wish Intel had been more clear about what 2-3 years means. Is that based on 24/7 runtime? Anyway, I got my SATA ports moved over last night. PITA! because I had run my motherboard power connector in front of the Marvell ports. Almost borked my video card in the process too. Thanks Intel for this adventure!

5.2 ghz ? What kind of voltages ?
It doesn't sound like your problems have anything to do with the bug...

I doubt anyone at Intel can help you..

Just be glad the bug is there, you will get a free Mobo out of this..
 
I have a Sandy Bridge Qosmio and I'm in love with it...

From reading, I'm getting the impression that I shouldn't really have any problems if I'm running my hard drive and cd from the 6gb ports but would be an issue when I add a SSD and switch the cd rom to 3gb port?

If that is the case, maybe I can keep my laptop and have them fix it later. Toshiba issued a recall and wants people to return them to stores, but I already got rid of my old crappy laptop and can't do without...
 
If you leave them on auto and OC to 5.2, chances are they were all over-volted..

Which voltages did you adjust and how much ?

I believe vccio and vccsa are the chipset voltages..

It took them a while. No mention of whether or not they will do an advance RMA. I'll ask them about that later. Right now I'll just build and use my system.

I believe vccio and vccsa are the chipset voltages..

Everything pretty much on auto except vcore (manual 1.52) and dram (manual 1.70).
 
Intel/MOBO manufacturers should step up considering the consistent revenue & publicity they get from enthusiasts who jumped on the P67/H67 boards. I can understand the issue, but the RMA process is backwards.

At work we RMA to Cisco all the time, and I get my replacement FIRST....because the point of a replacement is to ensure "uptime" to the customer.

If I establish proof of purchase, I should be able to get an RMA number and expedite shipment of my replacement....conduct my maintenance, and then return the faulty product.

I'm in a similar boat, built my new girl and gave the ex to family (that sounds weird but I'm strangely comfortable with it). Anyway...I'm not in a position to bypass SATA II ports and I certainly ain't spending any more money on raid controllers. Ship me my RMA and I'll send you back your faulty chipset!

I would like to know this as well as mine is working fine in the Marvell port as well.

It also says SCSI as does my HDD in that port.

Anything I should test, etc...?

Again, working fine, tried it for several things...

I have my OPTICAL in the Marvel port and it is working fine...is that BAD, will it mess something up?
 
Mine are working fine but I'm using a Rosewill PCI-E SATA controller card just to be sure as I need 5-6 working ports for my setup.


I paid $40 for the card. I wish MSI just reimburse me and we'd be good. I have too much data u can't chance losing. 5-15% is too high of a chance and the fact they halted it makes me think most will have problems at some point.
 
This is such a non issue for me. My 2600k and Gigabyte P67 is seriously the best combo I've ever used, combined with a GTX 580....holy shit.

Anyway I don't even use the problematic SATA ports so there will be no issues. When the new boards are available I plan on buying one from Newegg and returning my old board for a refund. Unless they will do an advanced swap which I doubt.
 
No. Intel is shipping the revised chipset to board manufacturers on the 14th. The board manufacturers still have to receive the revised chipsets then assemble new motherboards with the revised chipsets in them.
