So nothing actually HAS a "K" next to it. Does this mean we get no unlockable refresh, or will the 4690 and 4790 have "K" versions as well?

I'm there with DigDog, as I just got my 4670K on, like, December 29th. It sucks that the first time I go Intel, they annoy me like this.

Broadwell-K is the unlockable refresh.

Core i7 4770 to Core i7 4790 nets you a skinny 100mhz bump. Damn you Intel, i'll keep my 4770 till next year i guess

There is going to be haswell refresh K chips, they are just coming a quarter later:
Initially Intel's Haswell Refresh will cover non-K parts, launching the Core i7-4790, i5-4690, i5-4590, i3-4360 and others first in Q2, alongside some new Pentium and Celeron entry-level parts. Low-power parts like the Core i7-4790S and i3-4150T will also launch, reducing clock speeds to keep TDPs low. K-series chips, for example the Core i7-4790K, will launch in Q3.

I would wait to see what the i7-4790K is first. There must be some reason it is coming in a later timeframe given it would normally appear at the same time as the non K.

5.2 ghz plus OC possibility would make me jump on it

Could just be that the Z-series chipset is coming later for some reason.

Not sure if a i7-4790k + Z97 would be a considerable upgrade to a 2500k or would wait for non-Haswell-refresh i3 to drop in price and use that as a temporary CPU and then sell it off and go to Broadwell-K.

I've been a pretty big fan of Intel over the years and I still think they make great CPU's... but I think the only thing that would get me excited about a Haswell refresh would be a sub $400 hex core socket 1150 Haswell "K" part.

And yes, I know that can't happen because Intel isn't going to savage the socket 2011 parts.

Not on socket 1150, but potentially on the new socket 2011. Maybe you could sell off your used parts and pick up a new 2011 board and CPU for not much more.

I have to just go for it already, I've had this chip for six months now running at stock clocks with the stock HSF. What method did you use to delid yours?
I initially tried the vice method, but the IHS wouldn't budge. Then i bought some razor blades, worked slowly the edges, and it came off in about 5-10 minutes.

By the way; have you delidded your CPU?
Hike the price when you sell it. Delidding can potentially killl the CPU, and guarantees higher OCs/ lower temps.
As a difficult and desirable service, you should charge for it.
Dont settle for a hundred bucks, imho eBay should bring in nearly - if not more - the price it was originally bought for.

What happened to SATA Express? I would love to see a bump in transfer speeds and that would motivate me to upgrade again. Is that delayed or still coming with Z97?

Its not coming. And thank god for that. That connector screams to be redesigned.

PCI-E SSDs are starting to take off and become affordable, which should be a better alternative.

This. That connector needs to die in a fire.

I just want to see motherboards with M.2 connectors on them, especially mITX boards. You can fit 512GB on one of those sticks, why bother with a 2.5" drive?

Yep, mSATA and M.2 is getting rather popular on the smaller sizes. And boards with multiple slots, so you dont have to choose between mPCIe wifi or a mCPIe/mSATA SSD.
