Intel Retail Edge 2007!!

Picked mine up from UPS this morning.

Q6700 prod code: BX80562Q6700SLACQ
Batch: L26A915

And there's only one disc, Vista Home Premium 32-bit.


Won't be installing it till tomorrow or later though, due to lack of time.
 
Is the Q6700 a lot better than the E6600? Should I just go ahead a sell the Q6700 and stay with the E6600 for a little while longer?
 
My Q6700 bundle shipped the same day I ordered it... Which was yesterday. Shop Intel online was having problems so they took the order over the phone. It should be arriving on Tuesday via UPS 3 Day.

I was all excited to set it up when I realized that it has no ps/2 ports and I'd have to wait till today to buy a new usb keyboard🙁



Anyone have any tips for installing this with winxp? I tried to take my existing xp install (last years retail edge promo) and hoped windows would recognize everything (its worked in the past, even going from amd to intel), no go though🙁


I guess I'll just have to not be lazy and back everything up and do a fresh install.
 
I got my q6600 package a few days ago. Its a g0 stepping. I just need to ditch this intel motherboard and see how fast i could OC it.
 
To anyone who has the 6700 and stock Intel mobo up and running, what ram are you using?
So many deals on 2x2gb DDR2 that I am thinking of maxing out the memory to 8GB.
I am wondering which timings will best "fit" this mobo.

Intel mentions DDR2 800 SIMMs with SPD timings of only 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 (tCL-tRCD-tRP)
but I am wondering if the stepping works better for OCing with different CAS timing.

BTW Frys has a deal on DDR2 4GB PC6400 DUAL PATRIOT (2x2gb) for $90 no rebate + 7SH.

The key to intel boards is the memory's voltage. Stick to 1.8v and an spd thats set to something standard and you will be ok.

Did you just swap the drive? Basically, just uninstall the chipset/ide/sata drivers, and you should be fine swapping boards. Ars had a good guide describing how to do this.
 
A new quiz came out earlier this week. The flash quiz gave 2k points, and the html quiz gave 500. After that, i'm short 175 points 🙁

Anyone have a code i can use? I don't know if i can get the 175 by the end of the month, since the quiz was for december, and it resets by January.
There are no events in California, the closest one is in Virginia 🙁

I think you get more points when you finish a quiz if the quiz is recent.
 
Got my code a couple of days ago, now i'm getting ready to order the bundle!
I've already seen one on the FS/FT forum...hehehe.
