I acknowledge that AMD chips are cooler and faster and a better value, and recommend them to people all the time, but I still run Intel chips all the time myself.
I am not waiting for Conroe at all. Certainly not dying for it.
When it comes, it will just be the latest Intel chip to me.
I never can figure out all the vitriol over who runs what.
Some folks like Hondas, some like Fords, some like Dodge, etc.
Some folks think they're all just cars....
I had plans to build AMD systems, but circumstances intervened and I just never got around to it.
AMD is better, and I run Intel. Get over it....
yeah.. thats my opinion as well..
I run Intel.. big whipdee dooo... It runs a little hotter... another big whipdee doo..
Ok.. so I'll pay another $1 or $2 in electric costs over a years time.. easy there.. better start saving some pennies
Some forum members try to get too much into the technical details of it all.. when everyone should really just enjoy the technology that we have
Well, I have a couple of comments directed at both of you, and all with opinions like you:
First, buying a product based on fanboyism, not "buying the better product" or one that offers more value is not only stupid, it also does not help promote healthy competion between manufacturers, which makes products better and cheaper. So this attitude hurts ALL of us, and makes up pay more for less product.
Secend, the attitude of "so what it takes more power" is the same attitude that makes gas prices higher, makes utility bills higher, and creates power shortages, like in Corona, CA. It also wastes our natural resources. Now I am not a tree hugger, but I try to save power when I can, and I don't own a big SUV, my car get 41 mpg. So again this attitude affects ALL of us.
So when things affect me, I speak my mind for good reason. Maybe its only a little here and there, but add up millions that may do the same thing, and it DOES make a BIG difference.
And back on topic, the 920 and 930 are better than the 8xx series, but they still are not a good value, still take more power, and still slower than the X2 they compete with. EVEN BY YOUR OWN WORDS "AMD is better, and I run Intel"
