Don't be stupid, buy AMD!

:D

I am just saying THAT IN MEANTIME INTEL DESKTOP AND SERVER CPUS ARE CRAP, I will buy whatever with the best price/performance stability and power consumption I DON'T CARE IF IT'S INTEL OR AMD. I don't care about what you buy, just poiting out that your cars-CPU comparisons or Brand analogy is absolutely unaccurate. Brand preferences are only marketing brainwashing, and it seems intel completely brainwashed you, but I don't care , you are the one who get screwed. The intel marketing deparment are genius! , they sell you crap.

Have you seen how much Intel spends on ads? Slavish devotion to a monopolistic MegaCorp did'nt come easy and it won't leave easy!

check the test at XS, it's impressive. SPi 1M 21 second is insane.
I am getting the Duo 2400 for $244, and overclock it to dou 2600 and start eating FX's for my snack. Its eating FX60 on phase and the Duke (I am calling it the Duke from now on) is on air. Its amazing. Looks like table has turned finally,
anyone?

Cool! I've never played SPi, is it fun? :)

Exactly these cyber athletes waste their time with SPI, 3dmock, PCmock, SiSuck Sandra and other synthetics which are all poor indicators of actual application you might use. Idiots if you ask me - which why I stopped going to adolescent xtreme - I want to know how my comp will perform under RL situations - only benchmark them will tell you that. Thankfully some sites and users still see things that way and hav'nt gotten so lazy just to run synthetics all day. Unfortunatly many sites are usless giving wrong information to buyer - Well, cept the cyber athletes who that's all they do is play SPI, 3dmock, PCmock, and SiSuck Sandra between builds! Hey whatever floats thier boat. I enjoy actual games a lot more.

Intel fans dying for conroe.. hope it lives up to it's hype.

I acknowledge that AMD chips are cooler and faster and a better value, and recommend them to people all the time, but I still run Intel chips all the time myself.

I am not waiting for Conroe at all. Certainly not dying for it.

When it comes, it will just be the latest Intel chip to me.

I never can figure out all the vitriol over who runs what.

Some folks like Hondas, some like Fords, some like Dodge, etc.
Some folks think they're all just cars....

I had plans to build AMD systems, but circumstances intervened and I just never got around to it.

AMD is better, and I run Intel. Get over it.... :D

yeah.. thats my opinion as well..
I run Intel.. big whipdee dooo... It runs a little hotter... another big whipdee doo..
Ok.. so I'll pay another $1 or $2 in electric costs over a years time.. easy there.. better start saving some pennies :)

Some forum members try to get too much into the technical details of it all.. when everyone should really just enjoy the technology that we have

Well, I have a couple of comments directed at both of you, and all with opinions like you:

First, buying a product based on fanboyism, not "buying the better product" or one that offers more value is not only stupid, it also does not help promote healthy competion between manufacturers, which makes products better and cheaper. So this attitude hurts ALL of us, and makes up pay more for less product.

Secend, the attitude of "so what it takes more power" is the same attitude that makes gas prices higher, makes utility bills higher, and creates power shortages, like in Corona, CA. It also wastes our natural resources. Now I am not a tree hugger, but I try to save power when I can, and I don't own a big SUV, my car get 41 mpg. So again this attitude affects ALL of us.

So when things affect me, I speak my mind for good reason. Maybe its only a little here and there, but add up millions that may do the same thing, and it DOES make a BIG difference.

And back on topic, the 920 and 930 are better than the 8xx series, but they still are not a good value, still take more power, and still slower than the X2 they compete with. EVEN BY YOUR OWN WORDS "AMD is better, and I run Intel"

The power consumption of a CPU should be low on yoru list of worries and battles.

I run over 30 Hard drives in my house for no reason other than I can

at an average of 7.5 watts a pop thats 150watts im just wasting.

Who cares who owns what, I mean really. If I choose to run a CPU that flips my breaker, thats my business, Once you start paying my bills then you can gripe about it.

I say people should own and buy what they want, and if Conroe does live up to the hype I will be one of the first to drop stupid cash on one.

Spent a lot more than I would have with AMD.

It's nowhere near as fast as an AMD system would have been.

Used a P4P800 SE board and a retail 3ghz Prescott.

Bought an X1600Pro AGP card to boot.

I could have done a lot better...

Doesn't that just burn you up?

:D
The fact that you're informed eases my conscience. But you can keep taunting the other guy. :D

Slavish devotion to a monopolistic MegaCorp

AMD and Intel cooperate with each other. They cross license technology all the time.

I was an Intel user long before there were any ad campaigns, I think.

I hated those blue idiots, anyway. :D

Well, it's a good thing I never cite any of those benches, otherwise folks around here would think I'm an idiot. :D

Is 3dMark really synthetic though?

I am sure a lot of folks consider playing games a waste of time on synthetic realities. :D
