Intel i7 920 $229.99 at Micro Center B&M

Definitely a good price for your first post on AT, $70 less than anyone else

Tho "Did a search for 920 and search came up empty." makes no sense
Um, you didnt come up empty - you found MC right?
111 in stock @ O.C.

Of course at MC you have to add tax.

This is a bit early for me, since the mobo's so far are crap
Also when the e8700 comes out (3.5GHz) all the other core2D will drop, FWIW

Maybe you can find someone who's local to one and have them buy it for you. I think it will still be overall cheaper if they only charge you cost + shipping.

And yes I meant on Hot Deals. I've seen new people get chewed out for not searching before posting a thread on other forums. I haven't hung around here long enough to see that here.

are these a hot combo at micro center?.$604 for the combo - no rebate - i7 920, Asus o6T and Corsari ddr3-1600 6gb....

oc a little, add a dececent Video card and put these in my existing box, buy solid state disk, and a big bad 1.5 tB disk, get a blueray writer. I'd say I am set for few moons

Cyn price has been $229 online (microcenter)for a while now (not sure if the in store price has fluctuated), I think I will pick one up soon (though I am hoping I can find a d0 in the store).

When are they supposed to have the D0's on the shelves? later this month isnt it? then the price will probably go back up to $300. They have had this $229 price for months now as you have stated. I picked mine up a couple of months ago I think. bad thing is tax and fuel bring it up to $250+ or me. still not bad considering a 9550 is about $270ish.

i doubt the price will be going back up just because of the new D0, it is just a cosmetic change, nothing more. the price is there to get people into the store so they also buy things like power supplies, motherboards, video cards, memory, etc. the price still may go up but it won't be because of the new stepping

Ah thanks for the clarification. I don't know how I missed this pricing change...I find it hard to believe no competitor has matched this price drop though, whether Newegg, Tiger Direct, etc.

Jgtdragon, it depends on your budget. If you can afford an i7, there isn't much reason not to get one. Best performing CPU on the market right now.

the price is an in store only price, which means you the only competitors affected are the ones with a local micro center in the area. i knows Frys did a $229 deal on the i7 a while back, but there is really little incentive for ZZF or newegg to match a local retail price
