What's wrong with both of these CPUs? I cannot purchase i5-5765c at all and i7-5775c is 15-20% extra overpriced in addition to its overpriced msrp.

Did Intel abandon i5-5675c? Or is it temporary out of stock?

I really need a powerful and TDP efficient machine that cost less then $750-800.

Intel basically gave up on it due to the continuing 14nm yield problems. Even the 6600K and 6700K are not that easy to get, and those are smaller chips.

You might be interested in one of Intel's Skull Canyon NUCs, launching in the first trimester of 2016. They will be based on Intel's next-gen Iris Pro 580 (Skylake GT4e), rumoured to be up to 50% faster (graphics) than current models.

It sounds great, but 99% it will have low-clock 2 cpu / 4 threads processors, which I don't need.

Plenty of them in stock in Europe. But with current 14nm products its still a hit and miss.

Source.

Looks like Broadwell i5 > Skylake i5 all the way... and that power consumption.... Incredible.

Is this really the case? I was hoping to pick one up; maybe I'll have to buy used (which I'm totally okay with -- CPUs are pretty damn reliable).

But it has U tier (or trash who is the same), and few people needs that. They want the C or R versions who are the real deal.

Is it your opinion based on a Fudzilla post or you can provide a (semi-)official evidence of your words?
Or, do you related to Intel and have some insider information?

I think it's only true in graphics intensive applications.

Ihmo, Skylake cpus have smaller die size to fit 4 cores and edram (L4 cache).

5675c and 5775c have 6200 iris pro graphics.

Only Iris 550 in Skylake family has similiar performance.

i.e.

6567U
6287U
6267U
6167U

All of those, 4 Moblle Skylake cpus listed above are 2C/4T cpus.
(My bet is that some of them will be used in the next Mac Book Pro 15 generation)

In short, if you don't care about TDP and have available pci-e slot for GPU, you should buy Skylake desktop cpu and any dedicated gpu for your needs.

My problem is that I am trying to build TDP efficient, relatively silent system with mini-itx motherboard and pci-e ssd.

RIGHT. :p
This one is a quad-core with two cores disabled as Aracnothronic said. And I was talking about Skylake anyway. GT4e (Iris Pro 570/580) can only be found in 4C SKUs.

Not really, Skylake-H should be used instead. 28W 2C/4T Skylake-U (Iris 550) is a better fit for the Macbook Pro 13''.

I was having the same issue trying to find a 5675C in Canada. Finally I found an OEM version at Overclockers UK and just went ahead and bought it. Shipping was quick and it actually turned out to be about the same price I would have paid in Canada for it, so no buyers' remorse from me.

As for how it performs, absolutely amazing. It's a great piece of tech and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a mini itx gaming rig.

How many straws did you have to grasp for this one?

Looking further, there's a lot of conflicting information and nothing definitive anywhere. We basically need to wait until release to see what's going on.

There is no native 2+GT4e die for Skylake.

Thanks. I am a Canadian as well. It's actually very fair price.
