Intel E8400 "Wolfdale" *IN STORE* TODAY!!!

so I browsed trhu the cpu section hoping to see some OC'ing results... to my dissapoint I found none other than that oddball 4.7ghz case quoting another hardware site.

did anyone actually get his/her chip and get it up running?

anyone live near a microcenter? you could be benching this weekend for $189.00. e8400s in stock at the store. closest one to me is atlanta, ga. damn, it's also the best price.

Well, got the "out of stock" notification from buy.com telling me I can wait or cancel the order. In status it still shows as "sent to warehouse" so I'll leave it alone till I find another place to order from... so freaking lame!

I just got mine from pcsuperstore installing tonight can't wait.....fast shipping from them...

I am getting very apprehensive about antares digital.

I cannot seem to access their website. Either it is down, or I just can't get there from work. Probably the former.

They said it would ship today, I received no tracking number.

God I hate these shady vendors... >:|

I can confirm the Microcenter in Marietta, Ga has them. Based on this thread, I drove over there after work to check it out. There were about 15 of them on the shelves, all with various "pack dates". It was kind of funny that the sticker on the actual box itself listed the price as $240 while the actual price was $190. Mine came out to $201 after tax, not bad considering I was debating pre-ordering it at $215.

Now that I have the most elusive part, I'll start ordering the rest of my parts for my new build later this week.

FYI if anyone in CA is near a Central Computer I was just in their and they had at least 20 E8400 and 20 E8500's 🙂

Got my tracking number from compsource - all is good, I'm going to stop checking/looking now.
Hearing that local Microcenters have them at $189 today was quite painful!
I paid $20 more and won't even get it until late next week - oh well, a lesson learned.

What are the chances that Newegg will jack up the price on Monday? Does Newegg usually launch at the recommended price?

I don't think it will be that drastic, but it may go up in price a bit at the egg. Don't worry because on monday there will be plenty of competition from online retailers.

Negative, the Calif stores are the nearest and since I'm in WA I don't really want to drive that far. This is really annoying since I have everything else I need (IP35-E, 8800GTS 512, 8GB DDR-800, 2x500gb SATA, etc...) except for the friggen cpu!!!

The one thing we do have up here is Fry's so maybe they will have it in stock this weekend, I just hate paying sales tax so I try to avoid buying parts there.

YMMV on MicroCenter. I was just there today and overhead a guy in the hardware department take a call. He said they were holding them until the 23rd, but he said to check back tomorrow anyway. He also said MicroCenter will pricematch CPUs to online prices, so keep a look out for E8400s <$189 at a recognizable etailer...

Oh, I should have mentioned that, sorry. I went to the Santa Clara, CA location. Another weird thing...they also have the Phenom 9700 ($334?) on their printed price list?! I thought those were delayed.

They have them at the Micro Center in Columbus, OH.

My brother picked up one earlier today.

Nice to to be able to see these locally and with pretty good prices.

I love MicroCenter. Their CPU prices are almost always competitive with 'web' prices, and they seem to have everything I want that Fry's doesn't.
