Welp... im sort of lost after seeing these:

New world Record:

5ghz overclock:

And yeah before people start calling foul on exotic cooling... might i remind people that unless your running stock, i pretty much guarantee people will be running a custom LCS on a 3000 dollar core system, and not end it on a noctua or a AIO.

@Shmee I told ya that 3400 series was a beast... dont even bother looking at the 2400 series which is basically like a lexus with raptor lake being the toyota.
Water cooled stock Server Genoa can do 120,000 points. Sapphire Rapids HEDT is a Joke at stock. Zen4 Threadripper will break 200,000 points no problem

Want to talk about AMD and their exploits?
Post in an AMD titled thread.

i dont think AMD has a CPU that can match the 3435X tho, until we see Zen4 Threadripper.
112 PCI-E 5.0 lanes.... overclock at 5ghz+, while still keeping the price tag on the CPU below 1600.

There is nothing on AMD's lineup that has this... and i think AMD is too lost in AI war against Nvidia to really care about HEDT.

Overall i think its a better cpu for HEDT, and not full out server functions.
Something you put a expensive as heck GPU to game with, and not a Compute BOX.

The 5955WX is well undern 1600 has more PCI Lanes(128) and same amount of channels, the performance is about the same(CBR23). So yes AMD Does have a CPU that can match the 3435X

No its not pci-e 5.0
They do not overclock to 5ghz.
Its also not 8 channel DDR5.

It failed the 3 strike test...

Its not even in the same class as Genoa.. so no.. its NOT the same.
And im sure a overclocked 3435X will beat it if the 3495X set a world record.

You need to bring out Zen4 to start comparing close to apples to apples.
If you want to do a comparison, wait til Zen4 TR, as your throwing in oranges to a talk regarding apples.
I havent even heard about new Threadripper boards yet, and they were suposed to launch Zen4 TR in a couple of months if they intended to keep on track of timelines.

And i really do not recommend anyone buying a system that still uses DDR4 and does not have PCI-E 5.0, for a system that will break your wallet to mid 4 figures when setup correctly.

That is just plain financial suicided in my book.

So yes AMD Does have a CPU that can match the 3435X

Again.. No...
This is STOCK...
Whose gonna leave this at Stock?
If i want a stock CPU, i'll grab a GENOA, not a ThreadRipper or SPR.

Your completely lost in what HEDT is.
And your again lost in how that 3495X broke the World Record.
So again that chart does not apply unless were looking at STOCK.
And again if were looking at STOCK, im sure 99% of us would grab a Zen 4 EYPC and not look back as i prefer supermicro boards over ASUS/Giggy/MSI/ASRock+Rack when it comes to non game related stuff.

Sigh Way to kill the entire 3400 series before it can even take off.
Threadripper was already pushing my timeline back, now a refresh pretty much solidifies im not buying anything until 3500 series is out.

Apparently Intel said this at their foundry event:
Lastly, more than five internal products are presently being developed on Intel’s latest 18A process technology, which is expected to come to market in 2025. This process node will initially ramp on internal volume, allowing any process issues to be addressed, and as a result will largely de-risk the new process for external IFS customers.
The only one that's confirmed is Clearwater forest. Panther Lake in 2025 shouldn't be too surprising, since Intel likes to keep an yearly release schedule. As for the other 3, any guesses?

Raichu also started talking about some ARL stuff. For some reason, his twitter is now on private? but the gist of if is:
8+32 ARL was planned, but is fraught with problems. If it does come out, it's likely to be much later after initial launch.
A little surprising, but apparently Intel still is not sure about whether Intel 20A or TSMC 3nm is going to be used for ARL mobile. Intel is aiming for a Q4 2024 launch compared to the original Q1 2025 launch for mobile, so depending on whether 20A will be ready on time, they will launch ARL mobile on N3 or 20A.
Also apparently Intel is marketing LNL as M-products

those i take seriously as code names but beast lake? it sounds like hired a pot smoking 14 yo as a marketing director for future launches.

Seriously, this meme comes to mind. Except the 14 y/o didn't get thrown out the window. "Bruh, let's call it, like, Beast Lake!".

why? if you need the extra io intel can provide by all means wait mate, but i can tell you now the performance leap from 34 to 35 is not going to be anything that'll touch or surpass tr. unless your wife's threatened you with not buying more pc junk, give us a blink and we'll send an exfil team.

too confusing to follow. now their boxes will resemble tampons and pads boxes. not like the current naming was any better. it got wild after 9th gen.

Have you gone on a bender recently? A lot of your recent posts don't make much sense.

You may lack a geographical context for his last post - I don't know how or if it is used in the US and elsewhere.

The suffix ultra is used in UK branding by major tampon manufacturer Tampax for their highest fluid absorbency products.

I haven't seen a TV commercial for them in some time, but it's still stuck in my head along with various other bits of useless consumerism vomit from the last 20 years 😅

It's used in the US. ultra soft, ultra absorbancy, for feminine products. I'm sure men's stuff with the branding and fancy box exist. kotex by virtue looks more like a tech product than a hygiene box.
Between my trips back home to visit relatives and old friends I still remember it's always been a sight to see how similar tea boxes and women's products boxes look now a days. I used to wrongfully pickup a box of women's products thinking it was a box of tetleys here or there, and last week I grabbed what I thought was a box of pukka teas but it turned out it was tampax. I blame pukka for their flowery bs on the boxes. I tried a new american brand a month ago, good but pricy but no images what so ever. word vomit all in the front back and sides. I stood there for minuted examining it trying to figure out apart from it saying dark mint on the front whether it was edible or not. wish these companies would stop messing about and adopt a style like clipper has. clipper has never failed me. A person with half their eye sight gone can make out a box of clippers from 20 meters away. high contrast design with a big massive silhouette of a kettle. pg and barry's are also easy to see. though I've bought what I thought was barry's here and it turned out to be another brand.

It doesn't exactly scream confidence does it?
How I see it is ultra is the next or current node or core and the none ultras will be last year's model. this helps with a few things like if yields on a new process or arch isn't good they can sell the majority of their production without worry because those will be last year's designs with slight updates perhaps. that's what was explained on another forum in between arguments. the naming and branding isn't good, but neither was the core series and tbh amd is at that point where their naming will need a refresh. interesting they won't be skipping a number this upcoming gen and going with 8000 processor naming giving them another generation of normal naming before it begins to get out of hand such as a 10950X which is too close to intel's 10th gen x series processors.

You talk'n about this:

Anyhow, the only time i was ever satified with the word ultra, was when i was a kid and watched UltraMan live action tv shows in asia.

Otherwise every time i see the word ultra... i just face palm, at poor marketing attempts.
Its almost on the same league as Nvidia and SUPER.
Like they needed a new branch called super because they already used up Ti and refused to recycle it.

i can tell you now the performance leap from 34 to 35 is not going to be anything that'll touch or surpass tr.

Repeat this to me AFTER they actually release TR.
So far no board or news has been leaked or disclosed.
Either they are more efficient then the FBI at hiding stuff, or AMD just is not interested in HEDT at the moment.

And i do think intel does need some credit when it comes to revisions, as they have always been about 10-15% better then the previous, in both overclocking headroom + Heat + power draw.
So it would be a financial suicide again to buy a 3400 series, when the 3500 series is just around the corner in a span of less then 1 year.

I assumed that Ultra was the Cove+Mont hybrid higher end SKUs or just Cove SKUs perhaps for the Core 9 Ultra SKUs.

On the other hand Core regular would be just Mont at the low end and Cove+Mont mainstream SKUs toward the higher end of that range at Core 7.

🤔

nVidia actually had ULTRA SKUs once, I had completely forgot about them until you brought up nVidia and it just clicked in my memory:

Got a funny feeling that I might of even had one with ULTRA branding at some point in 2003, the whole thing seems very familiar now I'm thinking about it.
