[I wrote this not knowing if you knew how to OC or not. If you do, great. Ignore this post. If you don't, read the Core2 OC sticky in the CPU forum then follow my advice. YMMV on all overclocks.]

Don't be afraid to overclock it! you can get this to 3ghz pretty simple. You would be adding two extra cores which will future resist very well. I have the same board, but a P45 chipset, but the BIOS is almost identical.

Lock almost all values to normal settings (normal, not auto) and you will probably need 1.25V on your CPU Vcore until its stable, then see if you can go lower on the Vcore after you get around 3ghz or so.

Lower your ram divider, raise the FSB to 355 first, see if its stable, then go up by 15 after each stable pass. A couple passes of Linx is good for basic stability testing. 3ghz-3.2ghz should be easily obtainable.

Thanks but I had my E8400 running 4.2 GHz :D

Plus that rigs is being slightly upgraded:

Thermaltake 850W Power Supply

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3LR

One more 1TB HDD

But thanks for the help ;)

Lol. Oops. Let me know how far you're able to push the CPU. I'm pretty interested.

Wow, smoking deal. Debating whether or not I really need this right now though as my E8500 still suits me just fine and maybe I should just wait until next generation...

I'm in the same boat. AMD is coming out with it's bulldozer chips. I think I am going to wait as well. :)

In your cart? Real shopping cart or online cart?

This is a B&M deal...

It was in my online shopping cart which was $90 since my local pickup is only 5 min away.
Then this morning the price went up.
I might go to the store to see the b&m price.

Got mine today! If the deal's still good when you go to buy the processor make sure you check the CPU (window on the bottom) for SLGUR if it says SLB5W it does not have Intel® Virtualization Technology

I got a SLGUR

guess i have to get one or two now... took a lot more volts than that to get to 3.5 on my older 8300...

will be the end of the dual core era on my home systems...

Mine says that.

There is also "Intel(R) VT" and "S-spec SLGUR" on the label on the outside of the box.

edited - almost had a heart attack. Thanks to an annoying issue with IP35 Pro and Q8300 - bios temp was 103 deg C [which is incorrect as core temp shows 40 deg C for all 4 cores].
