A fair market price is about 1100-1150.

why do people always whine about prices from companies? They charge what they can get. Simple as that, all companies for profit do that. Just the way the world works, although, almost 1.4k is pretty steep for a proc, but we all remember the days when a new comp would run about 6-10k.

My plan is get a completely Conroe-ready system (2GB DDR2-800 RAM, Asus P5W-DH Deluxe motherboard, ATi Radeon X1900XT) and use a Pentium D 805 (overclock that sucker to 3.6GHz+ on Zalman CNPS9500). I'll pick up a Conroe and another 2GB of DDR2-800 RAM once Vista comes out.
