Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 compared directly to an Opteron 165 @ 3GHz

So I guess you guys got that from synthetic benches so far...

While I dont disagree it may be a huge lead in the end the fact you (and trust me I want to add a comment hear) have commented after synthetic benches really states volumes where this forum has gone.....

I though I was going to read something really comprehensive...You haven't even waited until all the test were done...

Time to get a 165/3800+X2 cheap from FS/FT when everyone jumps ship then 😉
Performance: Conroe > 165 > 3200+
Price: Keeping 3200+ < 165 < Conroe
 
stupid forums are not loading for me...damn.

cause the E6600 is the processor of choice for me. i hope it OCs well with some DDR2-800 ram.

Same here, and the game performance. 3dMark doesn't tell mean much to me for a CPU comparison.

Now these are the kinds of benchmarks I was hoping to see at XS. The formatting is pretty good and the data will be handy once everything is done.

This is a good head-to-head comparison hardware-wise. Thanks for the effort.
 
Why are you using different Forceware drivers for AMD and Intel systems: Forceware 84.66 for AMD system, and Forceware 84.56 for the Intel system..
 
Because the only drivers I had that were modded to work on the intel platform were the 84.56s, Im sorry.

And, I was gone for a few hours, that is why there are no new marks yet.

If this forum has become so distasteful to you, I recommend you go find yourself another one. You definately should be happy with the X2. They are incredible CPU's. I was very close to purchasing one myself before I heard about these new Intel CPU's. I'll admit, it feels like I have been waiting forever for them to become available and have been using just this laptop in the interim, but it's almost here and glad I did wait. If Conroe was another flop from Intel, I'd have an X2 right about now. No doubt.

And by the way i AM DEAD RIGHT...the comments made at the beginning of this thread was for 5-6 synthetic marks....Until real test were done that type of intel fanboy "AMD takes a beatdown" only is flamebait....
